Shadow Libraries - Anna's Archive, Library Genesis, Sci-Hub, Z-Library, and more

There are infinite domain names. Anna's Archive can literally keep doing that forever
Look at the anime pirate sites lol. And if they run out of domain names they will just change the name and go on.

TorrentFreak: Anna’s Archive Quietly ‘Releases’ Millions of Spotify Tracks, Despite Legal Pushback (archive) (mega) (A&N)
Despite being sued by Spotify and several record labels, Anna's Archive has silently begun releasing the actual music files from its massive Spotify scrape. The shadow library's backend torrent index now lists dozens of new torrents containing approximately 2.8 million tracks totaling roughly 6 terabytes of audio data. This marks a significant escalation in the already historic standoff with the music industry.

Nice try, MAFIAA.

Anna's Archive has begun releasing millions of Spotify music files, despite being sued for $13 gorillion trillion dollars.

On January 29th, the world's most valuable company (archive), Nvidia, filed a motion to dismiss claims that it had contacted Anna's Archive in order to obtain copyright infringing training data for its large language models:

The site has lost a few domains in recent weeks, but is currently accessible on the original annas-archive.li (Liechtenstein) and the newly added annas-archive.gl (Greenland).

Here's their blog post about why they decided to "back up Spotify", and a couple others you might like to read:

Well now we HAVE to buy Greenland. Gotta protect .gl

The United States government is a little bit hostile to copyright infringement.
Fine, then we have to buy Greenland.
I have $20, I know someone here has a Chris coin, and I can probably sell some of my houseplants for the cause. Think that will be enough?

Why are they updating the newest site links on fucking wikipedia of all things?
Probably because they have strong support there, it will be updated swiftly, a lot of people would check there first, and they won't be censored.

The official list is here on their site (currently working on .gl). Where else should they post it? Probably not Reddit because I think they have banned links to their own site on the subreddit to stave off the banhammer, maybe their Matrix server which is linked in the sidebar. Their blog used to have a separate domain, but it shares the site domain now, so it will be toast if the domain gets pulled.

I guess you came here because annas-archive.li isn't responding. Maybe another domain just bit the dust, but some folx are able to access it, so it may be temporary:

Edit: TorrentFreak is reporting it's gone:
Anna’s Archive Loses .LI Domain As Legal Pressure Mounts (archive) (ghost) (mega)
Anna’s Archive lost its .li domain a few hours ago, likely due to legal pressure. The shadow library's domain name was outright deleted instead of suspended. Whether the domain registrar or registry is responsible is unknown, but the latter seems more plausible. For now, Anna's Archive is down to one remaining domain name, the Greenland-based annas-archive.gl.

Wikipedia shows these edited in 14 minutes ago (21:17 UTC):

https://annas-archive.pk/ (not working for me)

These are also in the FAQ now: https://archive.ph/TCf3E

Anna's Archive is asking for donations. Wonder if that's related to the domains.

Too lazy to search archives whenever I need an ebook I query soulseek and it's almost always there.

Edit: Someone probably already said this but whenever you want an academic paper that's locked behind a journal paywall, if you directly email an author they are usually happy to send it for free. They see no money from the journal paywalls and hate them as much as us.

i use zlibrary
to get the link to it i just google "zlibrary wikipedia" and click the link from the wikipedia page

thats because to publish something in open access (i.e. for free) you need to pay between a few hundred to a few thousand dollars PER PAPER
but universities usually have deals with SOME publishers that in SOME journals youre allowed to publish OA for free

TorrentFreak: Uploading Pirated Books via BitTorrent Qualifies as Fair Use, Meta Argues (archive) (ghost) (mega) (A&N)
To help train AI models, Meta and other tech companies have downloaded and shared pirated books via BitTorrent from Anna's Archive and other shadow libraries. In an ongoing lawsuit, Meta now argues that uploading pirated books to strangers via BitTorrent qualifies as fair use. The company also stresses that the data helped establish U.S. global leadership in AI.

Does this include self-published tripe like mine?

It would be nice to have it saved other than on my own computer and the dozens of people who foolishly purchased/picked them up free during an offer.

My KDP account has been banned for ten months. I love to call them Scamazon KDP, but I am well aware that I did manipulate the services. Writing GoodReads reviews of yourself is not cool.

Not automatically. You could upload directly to Z-Library with a user account, and it might make it over to Anna's Archive whenever they update their database: http://bookszlibb74ugqojhzhg2a63w5i2atv5bqarulgczawnbmsb6s6qead.onion/book-add

^I could not load z-lib.sk but the onion link works in Tor.

Another choice is to upload your books to the Internet Archive. This might be the best place to do it from: https://openlibrary.org/books/add

Either way, make sure you fill out the metadata fields carefully, since it might be lingering forever.

TorrentFreak: Major Publishers Sue Anna’s Archive Over ‘Staggering’ Copyright Infringement, Seek Injunction (archive) (ghost) (mega)
A coalition of thirteen major publishers, including Penguin Random House, Elsevier, and HarperCollins, filed a new lawsuit against Anna’s Archive. The publishers allege the shadow library is facilitating "staggering" levels of piracy. While the site's owners are not likely to put up a defense, the publishers' main goal appears to be to obtain an injunction that can apply further pressure on domain registrars and registries.
