"Queer" just means anyone who's not allocishet. It's like a big blanket term, "gay" usually implies a homosexual man, so it's just there to not confuse people. It's pretty much the same thing as saying "LGBTQ+"

Every dyke i've met smelled horrible. You're not known exactly for being that good on the hygiene department

But most gay guys are well groomed and care about their looks and hygiene. Very rarely you'll find a fag that smells bad other than very fucked up niches like furries or shit like that
