Pierre clostermann's book
Okay, so the little bit about "kill quotas" and such was just anachromism for dramatic flare on your part. Which is a perfectly normal little slip up to make or whatever. Its fine. People don't know everything and make assumptions.

My great-grand-mother-in-law had her sister shot by the Brits strafing a mixed military/civilian train 100% these things happened. But not to fullfill a quota or cruelty, typically just lack of ground level intellegence for the pilots. "Train is carrying an 88. Time to zip it engine to caboose with machimegun fire".

In year of pur lord 2026, every input and action taken by the pilot is recorded and reviewed. The aren't trigger happy coyboys, and if they were they would be immediately held accountable.

Closterman himself has been proven decisively to have over blown his owm record by x3 his actual credited performance during the war, interestingly and particularly his ground attack record.

It's obviously not going to cripple the US, but the loss is still going to be felt, if not in terms of the money lost, then certainly in the time it will be needed to build a new one.

That being said, if the US loses just a few F-15s, a dozen soldiers and a radar, and comes out of this with Iran under the control of a new regime, or permanently damaged for the next century, it will be worth the investment for them.
If we lost an aircraft carrier and that happened it would be worth it. Just because the USA is very good at not taking casualties doesnt mean we are unwilling to take them. This has been a repeated cope of countries on the losing end of the American stick for a century.

What I meant is that the war is in the "there's no more fucking targets to bomb left, so we will blow up even a port a potty and call it a irgc command post" stage, not that F-35s are straffing for realsies a Iranian 30 year old Corolla.

Also let it be known that Clostermann's was a nationalistic right wing deputy for a lot of fucking years, even resigning when Morocco was given independence, and he pissed off the British for praising Argentine pilot's courage during the Falklands war, i wouldn't be surprised the research about his history was tainted by that.

Dude who grew up on his books, so I'm biased toward the old baguette man

At this point the US and Israel can just maintain the aerial and naval siege of Iran for as long as we want. Their capacity to do anything about it is negligible, and sorties of B-52s nd F-15s dropping dumb bombs can be taken out of the training budget after awhile.

Thry can come to terms, or figure out how to maintain control of a population that hates them when the food, fuel and water run out.

Do you folks even read the words you type? That's all they need to do.
To accomplish what? What strategic goal can they achieve by firing ~10 missiles and launching ~50 drones a day? WTI is back under $84 again so please don't waste our time with muh oil price

None of you know anything about what happened during WWII. Fuck off to another thread with your retarded shit.

im talking in relative terms, their military capability has been reduced that drastically that people don't see them as a threat anymore compared to say, Russia in 2026, the only thing the regime can really do at this point is to survive long enough to disrupt the persian gulf oil trade bad enough to force a cease of operations.

That's enough to keep Hormuz and the oilfields around the Middle East closed. They are still closed you know. Iran's ability to randomly fire off ONE missile a week is presumably why we started this war and we're going to end it with Iran firing a dozen a day?

Oil is still close to double what it was a couple weeks ago. The only reason it's paused is bacause emergency reserves were opened in Europe. About 10 days worth.

It's funny how the US is also participating in this "massive" NATO exercise (CORE26) in the middle of this like it's nothing.

punishing the population is the worst thing you can do right now, either the populace unites with the regime due to the foreign military suddenly being seen as a common enemy, or they overthrow the regime and retains their "Anti-Western" ideology due to the blockade, replacing a hostile enemy of America and Israel with ANOTHER hostile enemy of America and Israel.

That's assuming the US and Israel do nothing to assist or communicate with the people overthrowing the IRGC.

Oil would be ~$130 if it were close to double what it was two weeks ago. Europe has not tapped its strategic reserves. Didn't happen. European reserves are 85+ days, not 10. Middle East oil fields are not closed. Production has been cut about 25%. No one said the war is ending. No more time wasted on you
