I think part of the problem is Jerry thinks he deserves respect solely because he came out as trans (which as many users here have pointed out, seems dubious, anyways.)
It's like an African-American demanding respect because their ancestors were slaves and went through a lot of tough shit. Well sure, but the thing is you yourself have done nothing respect worthy. Being a minority by itself isn't worth any bonus points anymore, especially if we want to treat everyone equally and shit. Like, why should I care about your orientation or race or whatever if you're being a dick?
