With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

Plumbing problems already LOL

Anyway, thoughts so far:

House
  • Probably the best looking one yet, easy on the eyes.
  • No theme kinda sucks but it's fine as long as they do one next season
  • How much can they fuck it up? Milk nukes still on the table?
Contestants
  • Solid mostly, but I'm sensing that half of them will be gone sooner than anticipated.
  • The twins are like characters from The Road or some shit. Great contestants
  • Emma is precisely what Aryeh and Payton's child would look like. Somehow it works for her. Sleeper fish for sure.
  • Can these people handle the gross-out challenges? Bitching out may be common this season
  • Anisa looks frighteningly like Haley but seems to be 10x cooler
New mechanics
  • Shop is great but snacks are too cheap. I want too see some famine economics. Everyone needs to be fiending. Maybe "inflation" will hit later on.
  • Jobs were needed. Making contestants do interesting things for rewards will always lead to some of the best moments. Should really lean into this.
  • Jet reactions + recaps will be very good. Helps a lot to know where production's heads are at. Audience gaslights should continue though
Host
  • Sam will be missed, but I think it's clear that if/when he comes back, he shouldn't be there every day. Once a week would be much, much better.
  • Bam is clearly not supposed to be the host in any major capacity. Almost nothing is explained to him about the show lmao
 
It seems like Victoria tried to leave the House at 5 AM.
Judging by her being in the Dorm, she was talked out of leaving.

He was very obviously checked out and not caring anymore about Fishtank last season. And one of the Season 2 contestants confirmed it, saying that when she met him again he told her that his heart wasn't in it anymore and that he wanted to focus on more political content. Additionally they had to move away and Sam prefers to stay home and not travel away from New England.
 
Finally a decent shot for comparison. The twins look like these characters out of the show Legion.

Same, I had it on an Android TV running it through VLC, tried to turn it on in the morning for the wife and pets to listen to while I was at work and it was giving me a similar error.

Bam did a good job today, but its extremely premature to compare him to Goldstriker after a couple of hours of screen time.

Also important to remember, Sam is a journeyman bridge burner compared to Bam, who has the equivalent of a PHD in fucking over almost every person who has ever trusted him. Things seem to be looking up for him lately, which is good to see, but when you have the likes of Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, & your own parents & brother taking out restraining orders on you, it doesn't reflect positively on your ability to maintain relationships.

You know what im kinda talking myself into thinking Bam is actually a fantastic replacement as host. Bring the chaos.
 
Also kratom is the actual devil's lettuce if you're badly addicted. I've heard dozens of former heroin addicts say kratom withdrawal feels worse.
That being said, I don't feel bad for Vicky Addicty. I hope makes it far, if only for the crash outs.
 
Guess the morning dulldrums is as good a time as any to ramble on my thoughts so far.

It was a very strong start, a lot of people are acting like this redeems Jet, but it's never the start that is the problem, it's keeping the ship together as it sails. We're starting strong, but also remember, The Twins were replacements. The high of the show wasn't a prepared element, Jet got lucky.

I totally missed Bam during my drive home, so no opinion yet.

The house/set up is kind of bewildering. The places I thought would have the worse audio are great, thing that look simple like the shop are awful at times. Generally the audio is better than I would of expected. I think the shop is something that looks like a good idea, but will probably be so poorly thought out that it falls apart. Like doing Rent in season 4 where they set numbers arbitrarily and then just have to change values or give money at random to have things work. Jet definitely risked the shows financials by having no hot chicks and one cute one because he's self conscious about the Nepstein shit, but it expect there will be a star fucker fan that will be a freeloader in a week or two that we'll get drama about after the show.

Fish:
Vicki - great abuse hog, I can't blame Jet for her leaving so early(she has two more days max) she's such a fucking train wreck. The people that have never seen the show before are having to explain to her how to handle the show.
Mohammed - Perfect kind of weirdo for the show, no legs, he's got nothing but a dumb smile when he gets trolled. I expect him to be a kick when he gets boring instead of a quit.
Bezos - Total Bezos Death. He looks exactly like you would imagine an Internet tough guy looking like IRL. He will cry before he leaves the show. I think he's pretending to be gay so he's attacked for something that doesn't bother him, instead of personal things like how it looks like his adams apple ate his chin.
The Twins - Break out fish of the season, they are retarded in a great way, I hope they can take it when it gets rough, the show needs them
Landon - Mega boring, I don't understand people's fondness for him.
Charity - Reminds me of how we were robbed of Star as an actual contestant. Different personality, but I love how she's an outsider that is rolling with it so well.
JDs - Both fine, not too interested in either one.
Emma and Anisa - probably slow cookers. Emma has a good chance of being nontent like Payton, Anisa feels like she can handle it getting rough like Drench.
 
Emma is going to do 1 thing the whole season and because of it people will rewrite the rest of the season to make her seem interesting when she's not.

just the general vibe and way she's cozying up to vicky.

her audition video has a couple red flags too. mentions she's a people pleaser, mentions this desire for "trying new things" and "being sick of stagnation" - both common reasons BPD girls use to do crazy shit.

I am not vincent gallo respecter even though I do respect vincent gallo and want him on fishtank, btw.
