Honestly? It reads like kiddo tells Dad, Dad calls Joe immediately and records the call. Either that, or he went to the police first, then called Joe and recorded the call. Either way I don't think Jim Bob got so much as a courtesy notice another one of his arrows had gone astray, and that's my one solace in all this. You better believe JB was floored, devastated even, hearing this news.

I hope he has a fucking stroke. How very fucking dare you refuse to raise your sons right.

I'd add a second saving grace: the victim's father did the right thing. He believed his daughter and went to the police to report Joe. Josh Duggar, let's not forget, hasn't spent a day in jail for what he did to his sisters precisely because it was not reported. This is what should have happened for the Duggar girls.

There's something really wrong with this family. As someone already mentioned, Joe's crime pretty closely mirrors what Josh did with his sisters. You've got to wonder where they learned that very specific way of preying on the girls.

I hope Jim Bob fights this tooth and nail, and I hope he loses-- and I hope he bankrupts himself in the process. He's already spent plenty on Josh. Josh is the preferred son, though, so it'll be interesting to see if he expends the same effort for Joe.
 
As for being a pervert running in the family, Duggar cousin Amy wrote a book and in it stated that Jim Bob's dad wasn't allowed around the children since he couldn't keep his hands to himself. Consider the source, grain of salt, but it sounds possible.

Jim Bob defended Josh, but at the same time, I remember there was a time when he blamed Josh for Jim Holt losing some kind of election. There were rumors about sin in the camp.

When I look into it more, there's stories about Josh being the reason Jim Bob also lost.

Joe is on suicide watch, and guards with body cams are outside the cell bc AR has laws about cameras in cells. I don't have a link for this one, but it was on Duggarsnark and I buy it. Once he realizes he can't plead down, this is a 25 yr minimum and 35 is more likely given the nature of what he has confessed to, suicide will be a very real risk.

Though I did appreciate a comment on the snark sub saying 'he's too dumb to know how'. That's probably true.

Josh had been "courting" one of the Holt daughters when the first allegations about him molesting his sisters came out.
The Holts put a stop to their daughter having any contact with Josh after that, and IIRC, word sort of got out among the fundie crowd that Josh was a creep and keep him away from your daughters.
Anna's dad, Pa Keller had no such reservations, and sold her off to the Duggars. He knew that sweet tv cash was going to come rolling in.
 
The question I have for these kinds of stories is mostly this. Why do Quiverful and fundamentalist Christians attract or create pedophiles? It's coming out more and more how many deviant pedophiles are rampant in religious groups.

I remember reading this. He was supposed to date a family friend. It's kind of ironic though, considering in that Amazon Prime documentary, Jim Holt admitted that he met his wife when she was freaking 14 and he was older.

The guy dated a teenager.

Well let's see.
Have some kids, teach them that every damn thing is sexual (and I do mean EVERYTHING) and especially that they themselves are sexual and sexy and that they have to be careful not to tempt adults with their sexyness.
Now teach those kids that girls are extra sexy and extra bad for being that way.
Also men are the closest thing anyone can be to God, and that they can do no wrong, and if you think that a man has done something wrong then YOU are the problem if you are female or a kid.
Don't think that's how it is? Try being a victim and telling the pastor. Watch whose side he'll be on.
Now ask yourself how are there so many deviants in that religion.

I've seen this in churches. A Sunday School teacher in a church I went to did some stuff. When my mom reported him, they just fired him and made him leave instead of actually doing something about it.

This guy got caught by a friend of my mom's, and he reported it too.

Want to know the truly terrifying part? His wife was pregnant at the time.

From what I understand Kendra is one of the less-objectionable people in the Duggar family orbit^. I’m definitely interested to learn more about what brought about her charges, but my biggest concern is for the 4 children. Heaven forbid the Duggar grandparents end up with those kiddos!

*not to say she is not objectionable by any sane standards
