Mega Rad Gun Thread

How dare you insult Xe/Xim like that, you transphobic bigot

Anyways on topic, I could use some help kiwi's. I've got a 16" Aero M4E1 collecting dust in my gun room after I stole the Viper LVPO off it for another project. The Aero now has no irons or optics and I'm undecided on what to put on it now. I have rifles already with the typical LVPO, Eotech + mag, Holosun red dots, etc so not sure what I want to slap on this Aero. Do I get another LVPO, do I look at something like that new Sig Romeo 8T-AMR, or do I get something weird like an AEMS or what? Help me decide Kiwi-sisters
it's a weird one, but I like it: carry handle irons with the optics adapter for some magnification on top

surprisingly cozy

edit:
I really can't help but feel a little vindictive right now.

I live in an AWB state that surprisingly doesn't suck as much as NY or CA. Don't get me wrong, it does suck, but not as much as people might think it is. Anyway, a bunch of years ago I bought a S&W 1006 off of gunborker and I was pretty stoked about it. It was in really nice condition, had a few extra mags, and I thought at the time the price was great (it wasn't). Paid and sent LGS's FFL immediately so the seller would ship quickly. It was a sporting goods store in VA so I figured that it would arrive pretty quick. Fast forward a day or so, and I get an email from these people saying that the gun is illegal in my state and that they can't ship, and to expect a refund in the coming days. I was confused because the 1006 was definitely not banned by name or features at all, we have no roster, and the mags are all 9 rounds, so I made the mistake of calling the store directly to see if I could clear things up. The nasty, fat, hillbilly boomer who I was eventually connected to said proudly (summarized) "we don't wanna deal with you commies from commie states hurr durr! Guess y'all shoulda VOTED DIFFERENTLY!! HURR DURR!! Maybe fight for your rights or move to a FREE STATE!!!!! DURRRRRR!!!! AND LOLOLOL WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHAT IF WE GET AN AWB???? WE AIN'T GETTING NO AWB SINCE THIS IS A FREE STATE DURRRRRR!!!" Before hanging up on me.

Hmmmm..... GUESS YOU SHOULDA VOTED DIFFERENTLY NIGGER! HMMM????

The good news is, a month or two later I managed to find a 1006 in about the same or possibly nicer condition with a shit ton of mags for about 300 bucks cheaper so oh well whatever. Fuck niggers who think they live in "free" states.

You know, I never run into these guys in the wild. But I have to twist a surprising amount of arms to get people to the range purely because they're worried there's going to be some drunk bubba hick stereotypes there.

Maybe it's easier to be an obnoxious asshole on the phone, as opposed to in-person surrounded by gunhavers. lol

I'm going to move to a slightly more dangerous city soon. Anyone have a good recommendation for a very light carry gun. I'm thinking of getting a .25acp.

.380 is probably the compromise you want. Conceals better than a 9mm, and you can make them nice and punchy with +P rounds. (Double-check that it's rated for the +P before using them, though.) Massad Ayoob recommends the external hollow-points for marginally better stopping power.

The exact make/model might be down to personal aesthetics and hand-feel. Depending how you're carrying, you might consider hammerless.

For that matter, maybe a hammerless snubby revolver would do you just fine?

If you were (unfortunately) depressed and wanted to end it all, would you really trust a .25 to get the job done?
The Soviets swore by the .25 Walther Model 2 during the Katyn massacre due to .25 working just fine at what is effectively suicide distance but being far less fatiguing on NKVD officers executing hundreds of Poles a day each assembly line style. At extremely close range it gets the job done.
keltec .32ACP P32 only weighs 7oz and holds 8 bullets!
Shame these aren't produced anymore, last gun show I saw a clapped out one for $175 and I almost bought it but something about the operation just didn't feel right, like unsafe (not blaming Kel-Tec for that though, that gun clearly had a very rough life). The P-32 might be one of the most polarizing guns out there, I've seen guys swear by them and other guys who say they're as bad as a Lorcin.

The NKVD also didn't particularly care if the helpless people they were shooting in the back of the head died quickly or not.

Colt Anaconda,
See I would assume this as well since they've got beefy cylinders, but the skeptical retards in reloading forums think the locking bolt notches dip too far into the chambers for comfort. Of course nobody's going to test it out and will instead post pictures of old Pythons and Anacondas blown up by Bubba's Pissin' Hot Reloads along with a ton of "I WOULDN'T"s and ellipses.

well gee, works for me. I've fired about 500 rounds of +P .45 through mine and the lockup is still like a bank vault. 300gr HP at 1,195FPS and 225gr FTX at 1,500FPS. The cylinder notches are offset in between the chambers if you look closely meaning there is a good amount of meat there.

I've seen a few builds over the years with a carry handle, fixed fronts, and some optic on top. Always wanted to build an M16A4-esque clone so I love the idea

While they're offset, the hard edge is set towards the chamber which made the boomers flip their lid about a potential pressure spike impacting that specific area.
As you've noticed that's complete bullshit since the gun and brass are properly treated.

In slightly related news B&T AG and B&T USA are suing eachother:
View attachment 8728126
B&T USA is also wrapped up in the Larry Vickers import violation criminal case.
View attachment 8728147
B&T AG(Switzerland) are telling customers that they terminated the license agreement with B&T USA.
View attachment 8728193
B&T USA's reddit rep is in full damage control mode. Looks like they're missing a bunch of parts to complete guns ordered a year ago.

Doesn't look good for B&T USA. They own their own printers for the Print-X suppessors, but rely on other companies (mostly B&T AG) to send them parts and firearms. James' X account and the BT_APC subreddit have a bunch more information if you're interested.
 If anyone thought this B&T thing was confusing enough how's this for a monkey wrench?

[Unrelated edit from discussion above: .32acp is now my favorite cartridge and this thread is why. From the vz61 project I shamed myself into finally doing here to the PPK/S-SD I bought by accident on a whim from another post. Fun and I think it would be better to carry than 380. I've actually been carrying the silly PPK/S]

The Implications of MFMD Style/ "High Performance Reduced Length" (HPRL) suppressors.

There has been a lot of buzz about the Strategic Sciences Multi Function Muzzle Device (MFMD) suppressor series, notably for their alien aesthetics, somewhat less for their supposedly stellar performance, but what I don't see discussed as much is their reduction in OAL and the implications of that.

On an 11.5 URGI an MFMD 1.3 adds less than 2/3rd of an inch

1774121975633.jpeg

An RC-2 adds about 3.8, this means you can now have a 15.3in Barrel with an MFMD for the same overall length, that means higher velocities, less flash (especially so with a theoretical optimized MFMD, which is possible because they're all platform optimized), less concussion. This coupled with high performance ammunition such as NAS-3 would either allow you to have even higher velocities or the same velocities while shaving off length.

I don't think SS can patent the concept of a direct thread reflex suppressor no matter how fancy it is, so assuming the the MFMD's perform as advertised I think HPRL as a category could emerge.

This is what the NGSW program should have been, this concept applied to a high end AR.

It's very interesting. As per Shark Coast Tactical, it doesn't seem extremely quiet, but I'm more interested in the recoil reduction. But noise reduction and extreme flash reduction is a pretty sweet add, too.

The price, though, is a little JoeExotic.webp... (:_(

I don't even get pressure signs on my +P loads. just a little bit of primer flattening, nothing major and no sticky cases.

Had a piece of a 300gr XTP MAG Hollow point land back on my shooting table today:

It's sharp as hell.

From a rifle it is a dandy cartridge, but at that point go for .500 S&W (whose revolver is so large anyway you might as well take a rifle, won't be much more encumbrance).
I'd love a lever action rifle in this caliber but fuck me are the Big Horn Armory offerings expensive. Anyone else know of a thumper of a cartridge for lever actions similar to the .500 S&W worth looking into? Something I could shoot regularly even if I have to primarily hand load for it.

How light does "very light" need to be? I got to finger-fuck a S&W Shield X yesterday and I was impressed by how small and light it is for its capacity.

.45-70 is the obvious choice. Winchester offers a 1886 in .45-90 if you want even more power. The .45 is going to have a flatter trajectory and more velocity in comparable loads. I can get all the components to reload .45-70 at my local walmart so it is very viable.

The .500S&W is roughly comparable to the old .50-70 Black powder cartridge in performance out of a carbine vs the Springfield's 30 inch barrel. the .50-70 was well regarded for a killer of large game.

So, a buddy sold me his Hi-Point (I will let you stop laughing....) 9mm carbine for 50 bucks. I've tried their pistols and they.... well they exist and can shoot. But after putting this thing through an hour at the farm plinking steel I have to say I am actually impressed. While not an AWESOME firearm by any means, it's accurate enough that I was hitting 90+% of the time at 100 yards once I got a feel for it. Very little to no kick honestly, so quick follow up shots were super easy and quick. Major complaint is that the damn thing carries very little ammo, and is heavy enough on the front end to fuck with quick reloads.

I hate to say it, but I could give this an early 8/10. More time and ammo through it will likely change my view, plus I'm gonna toss a cheap scope on it to see how it does at longer ranges. But overall for a first impression, it's not bad at all. Kinda surprised me coming from that trash company, but even a blind deaf drunk retarded squirrel finds a nut once.

My old man has like three of those things.
They are a blast.
