Holy fucking shit.

Vidar just went full r.etard, confirmed.
Fucking hell, he needs to step back and realize he lost over an hour ago.

I won't have a chance to read recent posts in this thread until later so I'm not sure what the general consensus is here but even if these strikes are real, Phil has played his fans and the 'lol DSP is finished!' haters at the same time with how he's handled this and the resulting cashfall he grabbed.

He was dropping hints for days about how he needed more money before his vacation and lamenting the fact his Patreon was flagging and suddenly from nowhere these strikes came in and created enough drama to make him over a thousand dollars in one single day.

These issues aren't going to kill his Youtube or his finances, especially if they're not even legitimate, but they did make him a lot of money so he can relax and enjoy himself during his holiday. Good for him I guess, I'd do the same thing if people were dumb enough to give me money

I would advise people to archive his vids, does BSV know of this thread? lolcows tend to be trigger happy with the delete button.

He has an account here on the farms, so he no doubt knows of this thread. Pretty sure he's posted here before, too.

Yeah I have a feeling Phil's putting on a :ruse:

Even so, that sperging Vidar did in the SoK's stream was 100% worth it.

It'll be interesting to see how Phil's finances play out over the course of the next few days because his stream got mass reported for breaking Twitch's ToS in regards to how he begs for money by a legion of SoK fans who were angry that Phil's goons shut the SoK stream down.

It's been mentioned a few times but there's a chance that nothing will happen because Phil's a cash cow for Twitch so they'll turn a blind eye to keep the money flowing. Personally I don't think Phil's a big enough cash cow to warrant them having his back like that, but Phil also has insane Lolcow Luck when it comes to business so I wouldn't be surprised if nothing happens. Hell, I won't be surprised if his stream stays up and he gets all of his strikes removed because the universe's plan for Phil always involves him slipping out of stuff like this like a greased pig.

In general my thoughts are,

1) DSP is probably going to be fine,
2) TakeTwo / Rockstar arbitrarily filing copyright strikes and clutching its IP harder than ever are signs of the times and reflect extremely poorly on them,
3) SoK are fucking faggots.

The way they handled some stuttering spastic German man is kind of embarrassing and no one cares about what your credentials are in an Internet fight. I side with the weird man on her being a dumb bitch.

Their confrontation starts with them screaming at him that they want to see the part of Twitch's Terms of Service that say they can't stream and talk about other users.

Let me help.

  • Targeted Harassment, Threats, and Violence Against Others
Harassment, defamation, intimidation, raiding with malicious intent, or stalking of other persons or users, including Twitch Staff, Admins, or Global Moderators, is strictly prohibited.

Aw, what's that? You can't use a community platform to harass other people within that community? What a shame. You could call that a violation of freedom of speech or whatever but even the Kiwi Farms has rules against attacking random people in the community.

Trying to bleed from him information about what could lead to suspension is kind-of a fucking moot point if the report was obviously successful and they did get suspended, yea?

In general their bizarre, self-aggrandizing behavior is incredibly irritating and every time I've been exposed to their content I've liked them less. I think it warrants a closer look at.

We've tried to make fun of the SOK in the past on here but the thing is that they're not particularly funny, just irritating more than anything. Plenty of people like to say 'man these guys are faggots and are just as bad as Phil,' but most people don't care enough to regularly laugh about them in their own thread.

I agree fully that DSP will be fine. Even if his Youtube got shut down permanently, he's making a lot of money through Twitch and he'll only continue to make more. He lives alone in an expensive house and pays rent for an apartment nobody lives in. The narrative that he's poor is ridiculous.

In an ideal world I'd love if game developers started to issue strikes against all of these gaming streamers who think they do something special when they make money for sitting playing video games, so I have no issue with what Rockstar did, simply because it's funny alone.

I think Phil forgot that he was supposed to help Leanna move or something. Who else could he be talking about...there is no other "someone" in the guy's life the last several years.
That would be the perfectly apropos send off for her - Phil breaking a promise to help her one last time because he's flipping out about his YouTube "legacy."

Personally I have no issue with people turning Let's Plays into a career. In the end it's just entertainment and if people can attract an audience that is willing to support them, good for them. However, the IP holder should have a say too - some games (like roguelites and simulations) profit way more from LPs than others (linear story-focused games) and that should be taken into consideration and publishers should be allowed to set restrictions.

What annoys me with people like Phil is the fucking entitlement. In their eyes, they can use any form of media any way they like to make money. To Phil, a AAA game that dozens of people worked many months on is merely an "ingredient to his work of art", which amounts to shitty unedited gameplay footage that he chops up as much as possible to game Adsense. He is somehow entitled to profit from the game no matter what and flips out when companies like Atlus set restrictions, but when others use his footage to make non-profit compilations he's suddenly not so liberal on copyright anymore. That's why every time a publisher fucks with him, it's a delight.

Thank you. It absolutely surprises me that SOK cannot understand that they cannot pull the same shit they did on Smashcast and get away with it.

For one, they have a partnered Twitch user reporting them for their content and two they are blantly violating ToS. While alot of Twitch streamers violate ToS, I am pretty sure the amount of people bitching to Twitch about SOK was enough to get them shitcanned.

An unsubstantiated rumor I have heard is the reason that SOK gets to do their hitpieces on Smashcast with zero problems is

-They bring in a shit-ton of views in Smashcast terms
- They are giving up any revenue they make through Smashcast so they can violate Smashcast ToS. Smashcast made this actual deal with SOK of the rumor is true.

What a terrible night for our power to go out, I missed almost everything.

DSP will be fine. I'm sliding my "DSP makes up copyright strikes for money" conspiracy in the same pocket as my "DSP swatted himself" conspiracy.

I'm talking about watching him being fun. Also if he's super raging i'm not going to trawl through 20+ videos to find all the rage. I'll watch a TIHYDP.

I've said it before, Phil exists in a dreamworld where he believes that he is truly the best at what he does. He does mental gymnastics to make himself look better than he actually is.

He isn't playing it up because he's a narcissistic potato who believes that he's god's gift to video games and streaming.

YOU will watch a tihydp.
Kids like watching him on stream and chating before getting banned.
Kids that he believes (rightly or wrongly) wont come back if he is a cool calm collected streamer.
Ofcourse the fact that at this point he is a bag of flesh filled with hate is convenient. He can vent all he wants.

dont fall for his act.
he knows he is a bullshiter. sure he also has psycho issues but he knows he is a bullshiter.
in an old wip refering interaction with gamestop or something he said to them (and i quote) "dont bullshit the bullshiter, okay??" when he felt they were feeding him excuses.
He doesnt believe he is a gaming god. He tries to use that as a front to avoid reality. But the front shatters so easily, every time someone presents to him reality.
Thats why he gets mad on twitter. He realizes the truth behind the tweets.

A truth he is trying to avoid since 15. When he decided to get good on sf to pump up his shit selfesteem.
