Just found this Barney edit for show Dinosaurus lol, they really did make him look like Barney but red

Obligatorily the best, strangest, and most complex villain/anti-hero in the series and they absolutely butcher his design.
•Cold reptilian eyes on the side of his head? Nahhh give him big dumb human eyes
•Defined teeth that look like needles? They gave this nigga rodent gnashers
•Really emphasize the prehistoric reptile appearance with the scales and frills on his body? Fuck that, too much work for the designers apparently.

Why does this fucking show have character designs on the same level as Roblox models?

He looks genuinely so metal and prehistoric here, What a waste.

It's tragic. I've heard one fan say that it'd be like animating Cell from DBZ; too much hassle and detail to deal with for the animators. However, I highly disagree. Look at any animator/artist online who's done some degree of reptilian creature design. It's so easy to make that shit work:

- Move his eyes to the side and turn the pupils to slits
- Add texture bumps to his model or outlines (like with the Ragnarrs) to indicate scales
- Tiny triangles on his back to indicate spikes
- Show some gum to outline the sharpness of the teeth
- Change the skintone from hotdog to blood, for fucks sake!

But no! That's too much to ask for the Amazon deadline doomed Western nepoanimators & the Korean slave laborers are too busy starving to death to care. I don't like giving Hazbin any credit, but (even with the style changes) it at least knows its way around. We don't expect comic level detail, but at least try!

Apologies if this is doubleposting

Going from watching the most recent jjk episode to the most recent invincible episode was brutal. I get that a year isn't much time to work with but considering how much simpler Amazons art style is it shouldn't be hard to make smooth animation. I get that you have to cut corners sometimes but if you're gonna put the animation on 2s, 3s, etc then you should at least modify the frames to give the illusion of a smoother motion. And again, you can totally make 8 hours of high quality animation with only a year to work with by doing this thing called scaling up production and management which Amazon refuses to do in favor of hiring only celebrity voice actors who aren't even that good.

Agreed.
I was re-watching season 1 yesterday as it’s the shows best season in my opinion.

The animation is ironically better, there isn’t much more fluidity but the models have more animation touch-ups to remind you that they’re not just moving PNGs around a screen. S1 also has much better compositing, shadow work, and small details that make the characters feel more alive. They’ve dropped all this in the other seasons from what I can tell.
Better compositing would massively help a “stiff” show like invincible I think. Fan made examples below-

you don't understand
the show needs to look like dogshit so moist critical can lazily drawl out his lines for the zoomers to laugh at how moist critical was in invincible

The North Koreans cant make a minor character look badass because it compromises the whole animation budget. If they tried then we wouldnt get crisp scenes of Mark flying around doing nothing!

Just started watching this. Is it just me or all are the men in this show written to be dumb idiots and all the women are awesome, quippy, smartasses?

And Jesus Christ, this Amber character is the biggest bitch on the planet.

Klaus demonstrates how much compositing can elevate something from average to masterpiece.

While Klaus had more time true, nobody is asking invincible to add photorealistic subsurface scattering in every scene, something as basic as what you showed would massively improve the presentation, plus invincible also has the backing of the biggest company in the history of mankind.

Are the second, Klaus approach pics supposed to be better? Because all it did was make it dark and drab like everything they make in the modern day. Or am I just an idiot that doesn't understand art and animation.

Also, Walton Goggins is great but he was horribly miscast as Cecil.

Has someone already mentioned that it's weird how earth is apparently filled with shit tons of powerful people compared to the rest of the universe?
I guess it's just caused by both hyping the Viltrumites as near undefeatable but also simultanously having Invincible fight against random jobbers that still need to be somewhat threatening, but the end result is that the entire universe tries to figure out how to even hurt viltrumites while earth is filled with randos who have proven that they can somewhat hold their own against a powerful viltrumite.
Hell it was basically proven in the invincible war where they slowly decimated the different Marks that earth is actively threatening for viltrumites.

All of that makes it even funnier that from all the random minor antagonists the one who doesn't even stands a light chance against Invincible is female ghost rider who can easily steam roll literal Satan and his gang, so in all honesty I don't believe Invincible's version of Satan could defeat someone like Powerplex who already killed a viltrumite and that guy is literally just a random schizo lolcow shooter with magnets.

Also from what I remember Damien in season 1 escaped from hell, tried to redeem himself by becoming a detective to not get send back into damnation and also threatened Omniman that even he will go to hell for his sins which now makes no sense anymore.
Considering that there was some rumors about a Spawn crossover that apparently just didn't happened it can be assumed that the hell episode is just some fastfix retcon that the writers slapped into the season becaus ethey wanted to have their hell episode.

In the end watching a series that is known for it's oftentimes gritty and dark moments turn into a weird comedy when the maincharacter who feels bad about his actions literally gets send to hell is somewhat awkward.

Ugh, they've introduced multiverse stuff already? Now I'm completely univested. Multiverse stuff is the dumbest shit because it means nothing is permanent and the writers can always pull someone from another universe whenever it's convenient and nothing that happens matters because there's always some other universe where events turn out differently. Used to annoy the fuck out of me when I read comics as a kid.

Invincible isn’t as bad as some other shows but on the whole, yes.

-Debbie is written as way more girlboss than the comics. She progresses as a character in a more satisfying way in-comic.
-Mark is more chill, quippy, and less depressive and whiney in the comics than the show. He’s also written to be a dundering doofus when it comes to amorous encounters. Not unexpected for a teenage boy realistically but the change was clearly to pander.
-Omni-man is thankfully very close to his comic counterpart, he’s also the most enjoyable to watch character in the show.
-Eve is a mostly bearable character as far as the girlboss changes go, but she has more vaguely masculine traits and the dynamic between her and male characters in her life is a bit different-All I can say on that part without spoiling. They also removed the one piece bikini look for shorts on her character model. Pandering no doubt, but not too big a deal.
-William is actually written better in the comics, depending on who you ask. In the comics he’s a closeted homo and the reveal is played as a joke. In the show he’s openly a faggot and there’s a couple scenes in S2 that reminds you what a fag he is. It’s honestly gross but the scenes are very brief. What’s most unbelievable is why a straight masculine (if you can even call show mark that) man would be best friends with a stereotypical thirsty faggot. It’s odd for sure.

And yes, Amber is just fucking insufferable in the show. Race swapped, very liberal, works at soup kitchens etc. virtue signaling character. She is also a massive bitch to Mark for the worst reasons possible. If you have finished S1 you know why everybody including even Reddit, fucking hates her character.

Thankfully the multiverse stuff only shows up once or twice in the comics and it has kept that pace in the show so far. Kirkman is a retard but he isn’t that retarded. You won’t have to deal with convoluted shit, it’s kept simple in invincible.

To be fair the multiverse stuff is basically just the gimmick of a single character who doesn't even shows up that often so it's pretty acceptable overall.

Kirkman is OBSESSED with subversions, that's what the multiverse shit is. But it's often so subversive that it just wastes everyone's fucking time. The Invincible War in the comics took place over a single fucking issue. Invincible is kind of like a comicbook for people who don't actually like comicbooks. "Look how subversive it is!" But the reality is that comics have already played just about every story that Invincible does countless times before by virtue of decades of consistent content.

Also, I remembered another funny thing from the comics.
When he ended up getting trapped in another world where the Viltrumites controlled Earth (Mohawk Mark's World) he resolves it by having that world's version of Robot construct a means for him to travel between worlds. This alone wouldn't be that bad, but he convinces Robot to help him by allowing Robot to clone his body to clone his personality into, meaning that there is a universe out there with a Viltumite Rudy with knowledge of how to travel through the Multiverse.
I'm sure that couldn't ever blow up in Mark's face.

The new VA they got for William is so fucking terrible it's like someone who hates gay dudes more than anyone on this site got the role, decided to intentionally go all out for the stereotype faggot voice, and the showrunners just decided to go with the first take. I know we don't want them to spend all the budget on big VAs (not like they'll stop mind you), but that was pure shit.

Also, the episode proved there was a reason why Kirkman abandoned his idea to write in his about Mark going to Hell back when he was writing Invincible. 100% convinced it only existed so they can continue to have 8 episodes and have the last one end with the Viltrumite War finale.

Considering that there was some rumors about a Spawn crossover that apparently just didn't happened it can be assumed that the hell episode is just some fastfix retcon that the writers slapped into the season becaus ethey wanted to have their hell episode.
From what I recall, it's less of a crossover and more that Spawn appears in the Invincible War and manages to kill one of the alternate Invincibles.

Atom Eve is a shitty Doctor Manhattan whose powers are completely arbitrary. She can rearrange shit on a molecular/atomic level and yet in combat she just shoots gay laser beams, which to me is the laziest fucking thing they could've possibly done.

This is a problem with all super hero comics. They have heroes with powers like manipulate matter on a sub-atomic level which means they could destroy everything and they just don't for...reasons. Like Magneto could manipulate the nuclear force between atoms so he could make any matter just fly apart at a whim which would make him completely unstoppable.

See, the thing with this is a lot of the time the hero in question is somebody who doesn't do this at all, and a writer wrote themselves into a corner and had them do something with their powers that sorta breaks internal logic. But then the next writer comes along and ignores that shit ever happening. As far as most writers are cornered, Magneto has one power, that he can specifically control magnetism, and also he has an energy shield and energy blasts sometimes.

Basically it's just another result of writers and editors fucking up. Look at Captain Atom for an example of a character who should win everything but actually ends up just exploding uselessly 9/10 times. It's why you should never take these characters very seriously, they're written by retards for the most part.

for me, it's comic powerplex receiving charge from any kind of energy, making it a wonder how he isn't a god with the constant influx of light
or just the CW's Flash
