im saying we RAPED this land for the last 250 years and we are on our last legs as far as true old growth forests and once they are gone they are gone. Im saying we need to be actively PROTECTING these areas not cutting them down just to make houses.

I dont have a problem with them cutting down new growth for the lumber but there is a REASON they target old growth, it makes them way more money but we as a species lose a little more or our planets heritage.

IDK I think you have to see the General Sherman up close and touch it to really appreciate the giants majesty. The tree was a sapling before jesus was born, thats insane to think about, the storys it could tell.

a society grows rich when old men plant trees whos shade they shall never sit under, we are busting out the chainsaw dawg
Mother Nature was BUILT for BIG HUMAN INDUSTRIES.

In that case I think you should lie and expound on the virtues of young wood for construction, that way no one will touch the old trees. “Look how bendy the young wood is, perfect for resisting earthquakes! More rings = more gay, if your house has lots of rings everyone will laugh and call you poindexter!”

You guys realize as far as we know the rarest substance in the whole know universe is wood, no where we have found is even CLOSE to have the conditions right for advanced life much less thousand year old megafloura , wood is more rare than diamonds or gold.

our pollen records show at one point the giant sequoias dominated our whole planets, from the Antarctic to the tops of the Himalayas.

now I will show you where its only groves remain

no picture can do it justice but this is the General Sherman I was speaking of

I wont keep beating this drum as I feel ive made as much of my point as possible, I know it does make me a bit of a gay hippy but these trees scream deeper meaning to me and they seem more important than we might be able to appreciate.

Im going to try and rapid fire the MYRAID reasons old growth is better
>resists warping
>resists bowing
>resists shearing
.>resists rot
>resists termites
>RESISTS FIRE

its COMICAL how much better the old growth is beacuse of just the sheer forces required to make such powerful wood. Full grown sequoias pump water higher than physics says is possible and are the largest living things the world has EVER known, they contain entire ecosystems within their top branches that dont exist anywhere else in the world.
If it makes you feel any better I to support the idea of maintaining old growth forests in the United States as long as Americans are able to take the rest of planet's trees for its housing needs.

the more obvious question is why aren't we just cutting down every tree in canada before touching ours? what are they going to do about it?

Trump has officially backed Johnson's position on the funding bill. Considering he signed an EO to pay TSA with back pay, no point in playing nice anymore, I kinda figured he didn't like what he saw come out of the Senate. So fingers crossed, I hope I'm right and this is a gambit to get voter-id codified before midterms so the full SAVE act can be passed in a more favorable Congress.
johnny.. how many women have you hit on here?
There's no women on the Internet....sorry he had to find out like this.

your more right than you know and thats 1/3rd of the reason they need to 5 US states like yesterday
1774645931152.png

the other 2/3rds are water related

CANADA BY ITSELF has 1/5th of the entire WORLDS fresh water

while the rest of the world fights water wars we are just going to noogie canada and be fine

so some retroactive terrible new, anyone remember this EO?
I will once again remind you to not talk about things you do not understand.

@P-38 autist 's Ponderosas' aside for a moment, much of the country for a very long time either looked like that, or like Yellowstone, as in like, a lot of it. There used be Bison and Elk as far east as NC. This was largely regulated through wildfires, which kept forests thinner and more open to allow these larger animals to live (in fact it is speculated that the dubbed "Beaver Lake Point" arrowhead size was for that large game).

If anything, modern America needs less dense forests for its overall ecological health
