Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

Sad to see, and need to be called out publicly.

The open source software community used to be group of dedicated developers that gave up their spare time to either maintain or develop great software.

In the last 10 to 15 years it has become nothing other than an infestations of Pedofiles, Mentally ill Transsexuals and outright fucking degenerates.

The honest developers have had to take a back seat to the degenerate views of some of the most vile people on this planet.

By the way, I forgot to post it here but at around the same time Pacman got it so did Flatpak, except Flatpaks implementation looks to be more than a simple ageDate range and is a complete PEGI style rating, it's named "Parental Control's" thus I assume they are going to make an entire system for this.

Soon we are going to new C, rust, go, python, javascript, compilers/interpreters that require every project to be submitted to a central government body, staffed by wholesome and valid third worlders, to ensure that the children are being protected and thought of adequately (with a mandatory project CoC(K) of course). Each project will receive a unique ID as proof of child-protectionment, and the compiler will refuse to process the code without providing a valid ID in child-saftey.js.xml.estrogen.yaml. Meanwhile github will restrict the project from public view until this ID is provided.

you forgot the md at the end.

It's now incredibly easy to keep troons away: Just prominently mention AI somewhere and they'll refuse to go near it.
Unfortunately, techtroons are breaking away from the non-technical troons on this issue. Visit Tangled, a Git repo host populated by Troonsky users, and see that most of the repos have CLAUDE.md files. That site in general is a coal mine of troons with disgusting usernames and project names. If the thread needs a break from laughing at age verification drama in widely-adopted projects, Tangled lets you observe techtroons and their nothingburger vanity projects in their natural habitats, where they lose the last shred of minimal professionalism they were forced to maintain on mainstream repo hosts.

Just say Linux is used by AWS and they’ll shit bricks knowing that they’re using the same technology as capitalists.
Using an esoteric distro that the corpos don't use is enough for them to win back their anarcho-communist points. That's why they all use Arch, it's not suitable for large-scale industry deployments.

Fuck that, neither is Linux Mint for as long as they don't provide enterprise support

I was thinking about this the other day. If you don't know new CPUs have a part you don't control so VMs can be run in them but be "secure". Intel calls their TDX (Trust Domain Extensions) This is mostly used for big cloud hosts so that their customers can run VMs and be more assured that their VM isn't compromised (the memory is encrypted so the hypervisor can't spy on it for example). For a consumer example there is the widevine DRM. In order to stream encoded content you need to have a special hardware decoder in your CPU and it will only output that video to a screen with HDCP. If you've ever tried to take a screen shot of netflix or whatever and the video has been just black that's why.

But what is to say this couldn't be turned around? Your browser is a flatpak the runs with TDX and can do hardware attestation to your bank that it is running with TDX and unmodified. Don't have a new CPU? Well much like how your banks app doesn't work on your phone without google safetynet + hardware attestation, your banks website won't work except in a flatpak for google chrome running with TDX. And I don't think I need to tell you that flatpak will not have an ad blocker but VILL have your DOB, SSN, photo ID, etc. and send it to every website.

In any case my hated of virtual environments like flatpak, snaps, etc. for single application is vindicated and I will be accepting apologies. You can put your secure boot apology on the same form to save paper if you haven't done that yet.

Does anyone else find it weird that the video stream copy protection is abbreviated HDCP? High Def Cheese Pizza? Why did they drop the "B" in High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection?
Edit: a word

reading all that just sounds like they are trying to bring the worst aspects of the smartphone apps to desktop via a backdoor.

whoever designed that logo and possibly the spec itself needs their hardrive inspected.

I mean, yeah. I think that's exactly the plan. Locked boot loader on a phone is basically secure boot where you can't enroll your own keys. On desktop some implementations will let you use your own keys and most motherboard vendors will accept the nigbuntu shim or whatever but that's only for now. I think they're just boiling the frog on desktop.

The future they want is all computers to be locked down like your smart TV and for all tech to ID. If that happens they will have not an unheard of level of population control but a level that was unimaginable 5 years ago. The limiter on spying used to be people because you needed someone to look at the data you gathered surreptitiously but we have AI now. Then just start nudging people to do what you want. "Find everyone who doesn't like my policies and make their lives subtly worse indefinitely until they change their mind".

And then we sit around here, I complain about secure boot, and people reply with 'but it lets my laptop unlock faster : )'. Shits maddening.

secure boot is complete cancer, not just because of its mere existence but because there are 101 implementations per manufacturer and sometimes even per device. You could do everything right and setup your keys and depending on the bios settings shit like sbctl might brick your machine.

Or just leak your keys outright. Just look at how great Opal drives are.
