A high school special education teacher wept in her mugshot after being busted for allegedly sexually assaulting a student — with police now believing there are “multiple victims.”
Nadia M. Horn, a 22-year-old teacher at North High School in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was arrested Wednesday after a school resource officer learned about an inappropriate relationship between a staff member and a student.
“Through the course of the investigation, multiple victims have been identified,” the Eau Claire Police Department said of the teacher, who is also a former student at the same school.
Lt. Mark Pieper told WEAU it is too early to speculate how many victims there are and did not give additional details about the initial accusations.
After the school learned of the allegations, Horn was suspended without pay pending a “legal resolution,” district officials said.
“Learning about alleged inappropriate conduct by a staff member is deeply troubling for all of us,” Superintendent Mike Johnson wrote in a letter to the school community.
“We kindly request that the school community respect the privacy of our students and their families and refrain from spreading rumors or speculation.”
Horn was charged with sexual assault of a child by a school staff person and second-degree sexual assault of a child.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be forthcoming, officials said.
