Movie & TV Show Recommendations

The plot twist at the end is that he fucked his now adult daughter, which was the villains revenge plan. It’s really bad.
So it's like they decided the original had some fucked up shit and it was good, so if some fucked up shit is good, completely over the top, ridiculous fucked up shit must be even better, instead of making it completely laughable.

There is an in movie explanation.
Spoiler:
For context, the original was similar, which proves it's all in the execution. And, you know, showing some restraint and not going full retard.

Back in highschool, the villain was having an incestuous relationship with his sister, and the main character caught them in the act. Being an uncouth dumbass, he spread the gossip, and the sister eventually killed herself out of shame. The villain then builds considerable resources, and when the main character has a little daughter, he kidnaps him and puts him in that hotel prison for years. Then he orchestrates the whole sequence of events that happen once he releases him, to lead the guy to have sex with his own daughter.

I don't know how the remake handles everything else, but I have it in good authority it all sucks. Not just from public opinion, a friend went in out of curiosity, and suffered the consequences; I shan't repeat his mistake.

Watched The Wanderers yesterday and really enjoyed it. It's crazy how you can just watch any random movie from 20+ years ago and it will be miles ahead of most of the slop being put out today. The scene where the teacher makes the class list every racial slur they can think of for each other was hilarious, as was the way the Irish were portrayed as literal speechless inhuman monsters. 8/10 highly recommended
If you liked the movie, I highly recommend that you read the book it was based on.

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair

I honestly think they simply don't make movies like this anymore.

The reasons as to why they don't make these kinds of movies anymore may wary, but I do believe it's more or less a fact that they simply do not make movies like this anymore.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 are great movies either way. They may not be Tarantino's finest, but they are still so very good.

Edit:

It's just so good.

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
Yeah, that movie is kino. I was too young for Kill Bill when it premiered, but caught it back in December when they had a Fathom Event for it.

My favorite part is the Crazy 88 fight. The only thing I’m not sure of is whether I prefer the black and white version or the color version. I know the color version was Tarantino’s original intent, but when an actual director has to deal with a constraint like “this movie can’t get rated NC-17” you get a cool solution. It gives the movie character.

Oh people are talking about Oldboy, as one of the five people who read the manga, Ill say the movie is actually much better than the manga, mostly cause of Park chan wook. I love Park Chan Wook even if his stories are not the best (I found Decision to Leave and No Other Choice to have mediocre stories, lets say) just cause his camera work, lighting, color choices etc are extremely good. If I should give a food analogy, he makes the best steaks, gourmet crunch texture flavour all the stuff except its not a filling meal.

The manga is basically the same except for a couple differences

1. The love interest is not his daughter, shes just a random waitress who got brainwashed into loving the MC and ends up having a killswitch in case the villains plot goes bad ie she still has a bug in the brain which will make her kill herself or the MC, to give MC the pain of having loved her
2. The villain is jealous of the MC cause of his friendship/relationship with their teacher, who shares his background and appreciates him et al. The villain is the transfer kid whos socially isolated and weird. It makes a lot more sense than the shock incest stuff, that was borrowed from Oedipus, Park Chan Wook revealed in the directors commentary. More specifically he gets really screwed up over one moment where the teacher and the MC share a secret with each other over some music preference or something. Its a lot more like Yagoobian from Meet The Robinsons where he refuses to move on from that one moment and that jealousy ends up defining him.

I dont remember much else cause I read it a while ago but the short version is, the movie is great and overall just better but the book has some story stuff which makes more sense.

It’s funny how changing a movie to black and white can have such a big effect.

The standard cut of The Mist is a decent enough movie, but the black and white version is just so much better. Apparently Darabont had wanted to shoot the whole thing in black and white from the start but the studio stepped in, it was only on the Blu-Ray release that we finally got to see it.

Speaking of The Mist, that ending is still one of my all time favorites. The fact that the studio allowed it still surprises me.

I agree. Another great example was Godzilla Minus One. I honestly preferred the black and white release.

The made-for-TV drama-romance-thriller Safe House starring Patrick Stewart as a paranoid shut-in slowly succumbing to dementia was really good as far as made-for-TV drama-romance-thrillers go.

I saw the Mario Galaxy movie and it's not bad. It's even worse. Infact this might be one of the worse animated movies I have seen in a long time.

It's also a dreadful adaptation of Mario Galaxy (my favorite Mario game). Fox X-men and Ben Affleck's daredevil level of complete butcherery. They take something immersive and atmospheric and turn it into a really uncreative and boring movie. No accuracy to the games what so ever.

Lots of plot holes that make no sense, the pacing is too fast even faster than the first one and lots of key jangling with the references to Mario and Nintendo products that serve no purpose what so ever. All the characters except bowser jr and bowser (can't believe I'm defending jack black here) are likeable. Rosalina only shows up 3 times in the movie despite her heavy promotion, Mario and luigi learned nothing from the first movie and fox mc cloud was annoying with no purpose but to tease a cinematic universe for Nintendo.

Please do not see this it's not even a fun bad it's just plain dog shit.

Shit i meant unlikeable bowser and bowser jr are the only likeable characters. I'm such a fucking retard.

From what I've seen of it since the first actual trailers showed up it's an extremely loose combo of oddysey and wonder wearing galaxy's title and setting up a smash bros movie.

The one good thing that's genuinely good from this movie is the merch apparently. Specifically the action figures because they're just hyper articulated like old marvel legends and import figures for no real reason. Also apparently the clown car that comes as an accessory with the 30 dollar bowser junior actually scales with the figuarts bowser they're doing another reissue of this year. If I get enough money to maybe I'll get both of them and try to make a better stand for the clown car than the cheap white plastic one. I keep seeing pics on image search of it when looking up info on the figure's quality.

This of course requires the figuarts bowser reissue to go on discount or me to find a used one for cheap because FUCK that inflated reissue price on an already slightly undersized bowser figure.

The fact wart and his gang have 3d models that are unique and extremely detailed it makes me kind of wonder if before it became whatever it came out being they were thinking about doing an actual mario 2 movie.

I saw Project Hail Mary in imax and holy shit i thought it was amazing. NGL i almost cried and i watched movies like Hamnet, Marley and Me, UP, Manchester by the sea and Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and while i felt sad i didn't cry, Maybe people forgetting about you, losing someone close or cannot figure out who you are really hits.

My only gripe with it it's too long like almost 3 hours. But i thought it was a masterpiece and i recommend seeing it.
I saw that not that long ago. It was a odd but wonderful movie about friendship. In a way it's a nice contrast to Markiplier's movie where he's mostly alone in his apocalyptic space movie. I like how uniquely alien Rocky is and his constructs especially his spaceship which feels like something a human can't physically build. But Rocky and Grace have a bond together that is so enduring. I didn't mind the run time, when Scifi, historical epic, or fantasy is really good I can justify a 3 hour run time.

Saw Stone cold after watching RLM talk about it a few years ago.
This movie is glorious and is just fun.
The plot is pretty standrad fare, but it is held up by great acting from Lance Henriksen (who is always good) and good dialogue.
For being his first acting film, Brian Bosworth does a pretty decent job. He is somewhat charismatic and in action scenes he is good.
The actions are really over the top and go up to 11.
Everything blows up, everyone get shot with 200 bullets etc etc.
the director know how to shoot stunts and action.

Check it out.
The whole movie is on YT

I would like to thank Jarbo for making me go out and see Project Hail Mary in theatres just to give it more money and spite him for his batshit opinion. Good movie. Gosling carried this movie. really good ending too.
