The Miracle Piano video was a neat surprise but I can see why it went unaired, he was barely able to comment on it for the NES accessories video. I can't believe I have been watching AVGN for 20 years now. I hope we get a proper anniversary video but the scott the woz video came out a week ago so I guess Miracle Piano is the 20th anniversary video

It's technically incredibly transphobic to measure time by any metric but that's a conversation y'all feeble minded colonizers aren't ready to have. Historically so-called "time-keeping" has only ever been used as a tool of oppression towards queer folk and people of color. The watch on your wrist is like a handcuff around your soul.

Einstein proved time is relative. Science has proven that using measures like 'seconds, hours' and so on is a discrimination tactic against the other time frames that do not experience them the same. Time is a spectrum of 57 levels and if you say anything else and binary encoded words you are a stochastic terrorist bigot against the underdogs. The only thing we know for sure is that electrons go through air and physical reality and if route them wrong that is a fundamental problem too.

I prefer James's theory of relativity.
1. There is finite time.
2. There's less time each year.
3. I got kids so I don't have time.
 

edit: this is a pretty good watch/listen so far.

Mike clears the air and says James does indeed play the games and some gameplay footage is james'. They mix/match footage for any given episode.

Is Hong Kong 97 after that? that episode is incredible but tbf a monkey could have reviewed that masterpiece and it would have still been one of the funniest things I've ever seen because the game itself is by design just perfect.

For me at least, there's typically one good one a year or season or whatever after the golden age and that episode is usually outstanding, but that might be because it's surrounded by terrible episodes I watch out of a feeling of obligation because ive been watching him since he started and I was in middle school and the occasional chuckle because it's funny how bad it is, or he's trying to choke down a nibble of inedible microwave rice in the beginning
 
Had the retrospective on as background noise, and I think it's a wholesome look back at the nerd's origins to now.

would've been way better if it was in person but beyond that, it was interesting to learn more about the beginnings. Mike had touched upon it on random streams before, but this consolidated look at the past was cool, especially more of the Gametrailer stuff, and just how much work mike put in

Yeah, I would say he has 1 or 2 good episodes a year, I too still watch out of obligation, been watching him since 2006

ROB came out in 2011 I think that's too early. I think the turning point was the release of the AVGN movie. If you look at an episode list of 2012-2013 the episodes were not that bad. Were they golden age AVGN levels of quality? No, but they were leagues above post 2014 episodes. Then you look at AVGN episodes after the summer of 2014 when the nerd movie came out and there is a marked decline in quality. My personal theory is that James during the editing process got burnt out on the character and never really enjoyed it as much as he had before.

Bible games lll is good, Atari sports is good, bill and ted is alright. Toxic crusaders is really the only episode here I dislike.

I'd say 2017 was really the end for good. There were some pretty okay episodes in 2015-6. Hong Kong 97, Paperboy, Earthbound, Game Boy Accessories (though it did have some cringe moments) were all pretty good. I didn't mind the Polybius episode because it was James trying something new. After Earthbound, the quality noticeably slipped. I remember liking AVGN but noticing around 2018 that something was really wrong.
