I feel Talk To Staff is a bit too stuffy for some people feeling comfortable asking small or simple questions to moderators, and I also believe there could be some more levity between staff and users.

Try to avoid using this to interrogate about moderation decisions, like "Why was I banned?" since that's something that genuinely should be handled in Talk To Staff. Threads posted there will be treated with more urgency and seriousness. Generally.

Use this thread to ask us questions, serious or not, and we'll answer them accordingly to whimsy.

If I had the mind reading ability I'd not be autistic and therefore I'd not be a kiwifarmer. But you're right that's what I should do
GIrls with a touch of 'tism tend to be more malebrained in terms of analysis. Are you maybe being too reasonable towards men or trying to solve a problem when they just want to bitch? Did you forget to say men are nasty and don't wash their butt?

i dunno if mind reading and autism are mutually exclusive? i think you can have both
they are mutually exclusive

XDDD yes this is what I did in the man hate thread I said that if a woman has a husband pedophile she should just ditch him, so they now say "but what if she can't leave" and I'm like "yeah some can't leave, but some can leave and they don't, they should stop being retarded, I'm sorry for the ones stuck with pedophiles". Buttttttt I said that men stink.

I don't use the report function much, but whenever I do, I've never gotten one of those confirmation notifications like the screenshots other people post. Just wondering if my reports are even going through?
On another note, should you report double posts, or is it better to just ignore them and not waste time?

Yes

You should report them. However if it's like some shit from 2024, feel free to leave it be

If the thread its in will be used/frequented in the next 2-3 days, report it. I might be the only one who clarifies this, but I think it helps to say if it appears to be because of technical issues/latency & they should just delete one of the two identical posts, or if its just some asshole who's replying to people but breaks it up into two different posts when it could have been one, that they should be merged. I dont think people would even know that's a choice without seeing the mod tools but suggesting one of the two helps parse the content and shows your intentions imo.

My double post reports usually look like "double posts, merge" or "double post lag, delete"

If its old content or a thread that feels like its about to die, then you could opt to ignore reporting. Deleting/merging throws off where posts appear on a page, when I initially made the Zoe Quinn table of contents it was super accurate but with some thread cleanup having happened since, now some key posts are off by a page or two so it takes a little more searching. I should probably revise and submit an update now that it crossed my mind.

How does the red warning thing that sometimes appears above posts (like this one, or this one) work? Is the user alerted? Are you guys given rules for when to apply it or is it just a whenever you want thing?

Is the user alerted?
I have no idea. I just know that the system allows you to send an automatic dm to the user telling them that they fucked up. Sending the dm is optional, though, and I have no idea if they are elsewise alerted.

At our discretion.

To expand on @Useful_Mistake's answer, there's an option to alert people whether their reports are resolved or not. Some mods use it to encourage reporting bad posts and others don't to avoid giving people dopamine for reporting posts.
