Went back and watched some old stuff today. There's so much on Phil that just a couple months of content lost to time and larger events could be pulled and make up one separate cow.

You also don't fully understand how bad Phil is until you REALLY dive deep.

Yeah, I don't follow many lolcows, but I feel DSP is really different just based on how much stuff he puts out. He's been putting out 4+ hours of himself for years plus random vlogs, YT vids, twitter ramblings and more. Keeping up/Remembering all of it is next to impossible.

Absolutely. I didn't say "all" or "a vast majority of the time". My weasel word of a choice was "a lot". I'm just saying that sometimes, people are fully content stopping at "well, they're just an asshole".

Sometimes, an "asshole boss" is someone displaying clear signs of psychopathic/sociopathic behavior. There are children of narcissistic parent(s) that have benefited from a more critical look at their parent(s)'s behavior. Instead of only being able to say "wow, my mom/dad is an asshole", they can look at the symptoms to realize that they're not alone, and learn and understand what they can realistically expect from their parent(s).

Anyway, this is getting way fftopic:. All I'm saying is that I think it's a lot more interesting to look beyond "he's just an asshole".

To me, the only remarkable thing about his behavior is just how stunted his emotional/personal development seems to be. desktop diagnosis the lowest common denominator of smugly attempting to discredit someone on the internet and it's by no means unique to phil. it's just fucking dumb. phil is a self-absorbed idiot and we should all just be happy with that level of analysis.

i think people started going way too far with the whole "desktop diagnosis" thing in this election cycle regarding demonizing trump and making him out to be some clinical narcissist or suffering from some form of dementia or whatever. even psychologists were engaging in the bad behavior of publishing op-eds giving their opinions on trump's mental health. i also remember drumpfkins making a big deal out of this goofster "diagnosing" hillary with parkinsons or something.

I voted for the ARMS playthrough as well. His videos and the TIHYDPs covering that game were fucking unwatchable. The rage wasn't funny. It was just a bitter 35 year old hermit bitching about a game made for a very young demographic. With games like T7 and USF2, yeah, he was terrible at them, but I was still able to get some laughs. I could even wring out a chuckle when Phil played ARMS. That playthrough was literally the worst of 2017.

I personally want Phil to whore himself out on social media more during his vacation. More opportunities for humor. If he posts more on Instagram, it could be a learning experience as well. We could learn what not to do with our money when we're already waist deep in debt.

I'm not a psychologist beyond reading and a class or two. But I can have a casual opinion on someone just like the general population would have an opinion that the guy that chopped up and ate someone was insane. I find the classification of Phil as a narcissist, and lazy to a profound degree...and possibly even have elements of sociopathy to be a reasonable one supported by a much stronger and consistent line of evidence than what a lot of people who actually get diagnosed give to their shrink. I would be inclined to bet more that a hypothetical skilled professional familiar with DSP would find elements of narcissism than bet he would find that Phil was a completely normal reasonable person. Whether you should classify this narcissism as being an asshole or a mental illness I don't know or care.

Dark Souls 2 views are trash, a lot not even over 500. He must be getting good bits because he has view quit games that have done better. I know he got the $2,000 but that had nothing to do with SOTFS. Hell, his Danganronpa views are better and he shelved that for Dark Souls. It must be all about Twitch now. That is until his Youtube pay is low or his channel is "at risk."

i was actually looking forward to him raging through this game and getting his ass kicked since i love the franchise but the chat ruined that and he's a dumb slimy cunt for not turning it off. ("but people wanna see me interacting with the chat! and i can't read off donations so people are less likely to donate!") it was game over from when they told him about the covenant of champions. he also bragged at some point about this being his "best run of a souls game ever." sure phil. when i massively over-level and have others tell me what to do it's my best run too.

it's even worse because he's played this game before and he "vaguely" remembers stuff that suddenly appears to him when it really just seems chat told him, so he's got an excuse to "just remember!" something.

also a bit fftopic: but i noticed it regarding his tweets on this run in particular: i hate how this run he's constantly tweeting that people should come out and "support" him. like, motherfucker people support a charity, a politician, a community event, a starving artist, or a cause, not a fat braindead idiot failing lets-player getting his hand held through a tough game for the second time. in the context of people helping you maintain a living doing what you enjoy, when you get lots of "support", you thank them for it. you don't ask people to come out and support you as if you're doing some service to humanity.

Unsurprisingly, Phil is once again completely full of shit. He's shat all over the "pathetic nerds" who cared about doing well in Soulsborne games, since he was a big adult with big adult things in life who didn't care about doing well in a game. But, now that he's doing as well as could be expected of him (150 deaths before Shrine of Amana; that's some high-level gameplay, kids) when Twitch holds his hand throughout the entire game, including the choice of build and where to put his stats, now he feels the need to brag.

I miss the days before Twitch, that really shone a 500 watt light bulb on Phil's stupidity and incompetence. When there was no one to bail him out. Like when he ragequit The Godfather II literally because he didn't know how to read, and then talked about that "critical game bohg" in his review. Nowadays, someone in chat would tell him what to do, and Phil would go: "Hmmm. You know what, folks? I wonder if.... Yessss! Yesss. I was right. I was absolutely right, ladies and gentlemen. At least for me, my facination with the DSP phenomenon is not so much Phil but the people around him. I have to imagine his parents really don't have a firm idea what he is doing.

Or if they do, they just don't think about their middle aged son begging for money on the internet instead of having an actual job.

And I find Phil's fans way more interesting than Phil as well.

I should not to judge anyone. Here I am talking with random people on the other side of the planet, about a stunted man-child who makes shitty video game videos.
