Turns out the real reason they're quitting X: You can no longer use apps to post for free. Whatever tool they're using to crosspost to Facebook, X, Bluesky, etc now requires a small token fee to work on X.

The staff page is giving me heavy 👃 vibes so the cost has to be the reason.

Leveling off at around half a mil isn't bad for a small site, but the issue is that the users there don't want to admit all they've made is a political enclave for extremists that is complete poison to normal users.
 
Well, you said it, it's a small site. It was then, and it is now. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Everyone swore up and down that it was gonna be the rebirth of Jack Dorsey's utopia - thank God that's not the case. Old twitter was a massive fucking shithole and nothing more than a high school popularity contest, except replace the jocks and Valley girls with soyboy journos and cat ladies. There were just zillions of these people and they were all completely identical.
Every time I see a Bluesky user lament how fragmented social media feels to them now, and how many former friends and followers they have trouble keeping up with nowadays, I think to myself: "good." These cunts deserved to be knocked down a few pegs.

It's interesting how Troonsky and its many failed predecessors like Mastodon and Cohost always end up imploding internally, while our blessed Farms has stayed strong despite having the full thwomping wrath of Big Tech against us. KF still has 1.6k online members on my end as I write this, but it feels just as active as Troonsky, if not even more. Most of the "active" Troonsky users are bots or automated Xitter/Fediverse bridges obviously, but the demographic it courted in the first place - the kikes/gypsies of the internet, liberals and leftists - have no loyalty or commitment to anything. What they have is immense entitlement that the platforms they're on, and their fellow users, should bow to their every demand. Each user is only concerned with maximizing their imaginary internet asspats. They don't care if it harms the platform or other users,. On the Farms, most of us understand that the site exists because of voluntary effort by Jersh and anonymous contributors providing money, documentation and analysis. Except for the few sticker spergs, no one really cares about their personal clout, it's a team effort of everyone contributing to threads of interest.
I'm scrolling through Bluesky logged out because I got my lurking account banned for logging in through Tor (probably a blanket IP ban on the exit node because of previous raids/bot attacks), so I'm spared the NSFW troon degeneracy, but the boomer liberalism on the front page is a good reminder of the demographic that Bluesky is relying on to turn a profit.

A quaint gender stereotypes debate (Archive) about a 5 year old boy refusing to play football on a co-ed team that is majority female and wears pink jerseys takes me back to the good old days of 2013. The boomerlibs go straight for Reddit-tier "It's bad parenting! Kids don't care about gender stereotypes!" sassy clapbacks. Even though discussions about "children" and "gender" normally attract them like flies to shit, troons are nowhere to be seen, enhancing the 2013 immersion.

Boomerlibs demonstrate their chronic childlessness by failing to understand that children develop their understanding of sex and gender from 2-3 years old. A 5 year old is aware of his sex, prefers to be around people of the same sex, understands the concept of single-sex activities, and feels uncomfortable when the opposite sex's behaviors are forced on him.

Opinion columnist covering gender and politics at The Guardian thinks that all of the lawyers making the case against American birthright citizenship at the Supreme Court should be "socially and professionally ostracized" (Archive). I don't know too much about American law, but I'm pretty sure that if arguing one side of a legal case becomes a punishable offense, the entire legal system becomes pointless because you could just render one side of any argument indefensible and the other side automatically wins every time.

I'm also not sure if it's currently WNBA season or if Troonsky is shilling it to be extra woke, but a lot of the posts on the front page are about it. I have never seen anyone care about the WNBA otherwise.

Putting it that way is too kind to Cohost. They were in such a good position compared to most indie tech projects and their fuckup was so self-inflicted that it still lives rent-free in my mind as the most retarded operating decision ever made by an indie tech team. What they did was:
  • 4 Tumblr retards came together to start a "tech worker co-op" where each member would have equal influence, ownership and pay. 2/4 of the members did not contribute to any tech work and only did design/platform moderation.
  • They design a blogging site named Cohost with the lofty goal of "no advertising, no algorithms and generous free features".
  • Somehow, these 4 retards managed to score a donation of $400 000 from a single "private donor".
  • Their first decision upon receiving the money is that they would all get paid $90 000 each annually to "match Big Tech compensation", leaving $40 000 for site operating expenses. This was despite the fact that some of the members hardly did any work, just a handful of hours a week, and blamed their laziness on "disability".
  • A tranny associate of Elliot Dong Gone swoops in and sweet-talks the 4 retards into abandoning Cloudflare, which was providing routing and network protection to their nophono site for free (as Cloudflare usually does in goodwill for small sites).
  • They switch to the tranny's employer Fastly, a Cloudflare competitor that hires a lot of trannies including Elliot's husband, signing an annual contract. However, the trannies were too jewish to show Cloudflare's goodwill to Cohost. The retards get hit with thousands of dollars in operating costs per month.
  • At this point, Cohost has no realistic plans for monetization at all. They only have a "premium" subscription that offered no practical benefits, and Tumblr users being a financially challenged, entitled, e-begging bunch, refuse to pay for social media.
  • The retards immediately start panicking and make doomsday posts about their financial situation, warning that Cohost would run out of money next month.
  • I recall that they had a successful donation drive once because of Tumblr staff pissing the userbase off about something and they briefly became the FOTM refugee camp, but that quickly dried up because of their incompetence and Fastly operating expenses. They try to beg the donor for more cash, but he is now unresponsive, probably furious that his money went down the toilet.
  • The retards shut it down, but not before making away with the $360K. They declare that they will not open source the website code as it is collateral for the donor.
Cohost was so stupid, it was almost smart enough to be a scam. Bluesky PBC (forgive my previous error of calling them a LLC) is nowhere close to this league of bizness mastery.

No they didn’t care the Soviets did the same crap as well, the truth is growing up and realizing that all ww2 is and was just a power struggle between 2 of the largest empires in the region and the us got dragged into becuase certain people knew they could make profit from wars.

Not only that. There are a lot of different blocklists that means that cliques within the gutter are quickly formed depending on what variant of the mind virus you have. They say it's just an "easy way to curate" your followers or to get rid of trolls r disruptive posts but in reality is just the acceptance form of one of the gangs within the block.

Joke's on them. By the end of WWII much of Europe was in ruins and their economies were in shambles. Meanwhile, not only was our own homeland virtually untouched (other than some pathetic balloon attacks and the like), but we'd built one of the biggest and best industrial bases the world had ever seen, to the point we were able basically to rebuild Europe and still be the largest economy in the world.

If I remember correctly, you could have added up the three next biggest and it wouldn't even have come near ours.
