I wish we could have some sort of co-operative school system where we have the homeschooling system like in the states but neighbors and communities are encouraged to form education cooperatives that the parents fully fund (could even just be a couple of the parents who teaches a few kids at their homes) and while there's still the public system private systems are available and people are encouraged to form their own as long as they cover the curriculum and the kids pass government administered tests based on the curriculum they provided.
The Boomer mindset has not been challenged in a long time, nor has the mindset of the Canadian upper class. Pair this with the paucity of government workers, including teachers running rampant across the country and you have people who are not used to self-introspection. The boomers live in all white neighborhoods, the teachers and government workers only deal with brown people who have been forced to assimilate through years of schooling. They are also divorced from how their money is made as they get paid by the tax payer.
