he's just a retard full stop, i think he made a pro-casual video that was complete gibberish and zesty reviewed it in a stream before giving up for how utterly nonsensical it was
also remember that he defended the existence of the flag in that engi cosmetic, he's a faggot that argues in bad faith at best

e: my bad on the pro-casual video statement, it was just a general defense of competitive, but the video was such gibberish that i've had mixed it up, the flag remark i've had forgotten where it was at

Ah I didn't realize there's existing beef here with Kaluka. The only other video I saw from the guy that got suggested to me was the schizobabble video about defending competitive mode. I still think he has a point in that some of the TF2C weapons really are brainless and unbalanced but I don't like his suggestions to "fix" them and that in hindsight I don't think there needed to be a 45 minute video essay on that point either.

and in general the issue with TF2C's balancing can be summarized with three simple questions that every tranny-flavored mod it fails to answer
  • does the weapon have a tangible role?
  • is the role the weapon's offering already present in the stock loadout and/or in any existing unlock?
  • is the weapon actually fun to use and engage with?
an easy example is the sniper revolver
  • it's got a concrete role, and it's to be the amby for sniper
  • however it creates a matter of redundancy since the huntsman is everything this weapon is supposed to be, so to make it "different" it gives you +25 max hp....
  • ...which creates a situation that makes good snipers an even bigger blight since now they can keep a semi-constant volume of fire without needing to do constant quickscoping and also get the ability to have an smg while having an higher hp pool

He's the most vantablack compnigger from the deepest septic tank of a 6's groomcord, I generally like compfags cause they're not imbedded with 'tf2 humor'. But his skin crawlingly cringe jokes along side his pretentiousness about comp makes his videos genuinely unwatchable, like a gore video.

He wants them to be the-end-all-be-all to the anti-Quickplay rhetoric bullshit. Unlike Gabber, he (a data scientist) will have all of the data / evidence to dispel it while putting it together under a carefully written script that's edited into said digestible videos for the post-MYM newfags which will hopefully erase their MKCASUAL brainwashing (if they don't work, then TF2 is dead).

It's absolutely retarded that this amount of pushback and effort needs to be done to retell people how dogshit Casual matchmaking is, but then again MYM was released nearly a decade ago while much of the oldheads left.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was released in 2003. The map in this video, Gold Rush, is a release map. You escort a tank to the gold vault, it blows up the front of the building, then you escort the gold payload to the map exit to win. Quite payload-like to me. Maybe there are even earlier examples, but this is one I'm very familiar with.

thats it, and its still quite active, there is not as much people that do live commentary like back then other than fatmagic, still everyone is almost "burnt out" of watching people play because of lack of new things, still surprisingly active.

Edit: Finished the video just now, maybe the "Bring Back Quickplay" video teased at the end is the one Zesty intended to release on the 20th (assuming that is the plan and we don't wait another few months). Find attached the data/research Zesty gathered for used in the video
