One of my friends went to CQB Brutality this past weekend. They said there was noticeably lighter attendance, and the practiscore results back that up:

2025 CQB Brutality 136 Shooters

2026 CQB Brutality 101 Shooters that actually showed up (10 no shows wtf?)

It also appears there’s been a significant brain drain with many of the top shooters not returning.

Seems like Karl didnt even show up to his own 2026 match. Also Deviant Ollum's side chick shot twice in 2025 with a dq too. Yet only shot once in 2026. Also the registration not filling up even includes people who registered twice so there was less interest in the match than I had considered before (see a guy who took 2 slots and didnt show).

Why would your friend even want to attend that match? Lmao. What did he think of the match quality?

Aside from SUPS it looks like the only other events are hosted at 1Shepard. Speaking of which, has 1Shepard read the Wired article and are they ok with deliberately training people who absolutely despise the US Military and Law Enforcement? Seems like a conflict of interest...

This friend has weird guns they like to use and Brutality offers divisions for it that most other matches don’t. He tries to tune out the bullshit and just go shoot.

He said the stages were decent. Some of videos from the match are already on YouTube. The Kasarda drill is back as a mandatory stage.

They were made aware quite a while back (could be the first woodland they hosted?). Someone from arfcom reached out, might have been floridacop, Without trying to find the specifics: recollect something on the order that they (1Shepard) agreed with the sentiment above and they wouldn't host them anymore. Looks like they backpedaled on that. Was wondering about that too a while back when they had another event there by the looks of it.

Approximately zero percent of Karl’s remaining viewers have children. The uterine transplant goal hasnt yet been achieved by trans Frankenstein “doctors.”
 
After watching this person shoot CQB Brutality, I can't help but think:

1) Where CQB?

2) The stages look boring and lazy. Move to position. Shoot at array of targets. Slightly move to the next standing position then shoot same targets. Repeat ad nauseum. For the amount this match cost and the CQB theme I would have expected a lot more shooting on the move. This is just Steel Challenge match on HRT. The stages look more annoying than fun.

 
A bit of history

Desert Brutality 2018 was held at Cow Town this range was very expensive to use.

Desert Brutality 2019 was held at SUPS in St George; great facility with natural terrain areas and a lot of cool props. This is where the Hard as Hell matches had been held.

Unfortunately for SUPS the growing population put the range in conflict with the locals. The whole range was shut down for a few years and rotated 180 degrees to have all shooting be in the opposite direction. This is when it was rebuilt into the range you see in the CQB videos today; optimized for USPSA nationals and events like the Berrys Steel Open.

Desert Brutality 2020 was held at the Compass Training range in Chino Valley, AZ. It worked but was limiting based on the number of ranges available.

Desert Brutality 2021 was held at the Cobalt Kinetics range also in St George; again great facility with natural terrain. But it was sold and all the events that were happening there also had to find new venues.

Woodland Brutality started in May 2022 and was run every year since.

Desert Brutality 2022 was at SUPS again in its new format. A lot of the competitors were disappointed with the new range layout limiting the distances and no longer having natural terrain areas. SUPS itself was always great to work with and the location makes travel and lodging a lot better than other venues.

In the spring of 2023 we ran Handgun Brutality the week following Berrys Steel Open; it was easy to convert the stages into what we wanted them to be. Handgun Brutality wasn’t as popular because most people are terrible to mediocre with handguns.

We ran High Desert Brutality in Parma the summer of 2023 replacing Desert Brutality with it as the match with actual rifle work.

In the fall of 2023 we ran CQB Brutality at SUPS; the name was intended to convey it was for all the guns to be used at less than 100 yards; PCCs, Shotguns, etc.

Handgun Brutality morphed into CQB Brutality format with less and less people shooting handgun only.

CQB Brutality is still run the weekend following Berrys Steel Open because of that logistical simplicity.

CQB was generally the most fun of the matches IMO; mowing down steel with pistol calibers is always a good time.

At this point I’d recommend just attending Berrys Steel Open itself or Rio Salado’s spring steel. Both have prize tables and will probably give you more value for your dollar. I currently have no plans for doing my own “CQB” style format.

Eh, Karl kinda has the opposite problem from ol' Philbert. Phil has no actual beliefs or convictions, he only cares about his ego, and money. He would sell Linda up the river or recant any belief he's ever claimed to have held in a heartbeat for more Hogan pulls. Phil also is terrified of any sort of confrontation whatsoever despite talking infinite shit from the safety of the Snort Fort. He will complain endlessly about the damn dirty troles (thereby feeding them indirectly) but he won't actually engage with them.

Karl has a mostly coherent (albeit retarded) philosophy, which he insists on dogmatically adhering to at any cost, even when it isn't neccesary and actually directly harms his business prospects and personal success, or jeopardizes the businesses of his friends and associates, leading to those people disassociating with him. Karl also insists on seeking out and provoking conflict when he has nothing to gain and everything to lose from doing so, e.g. picking fights with his own fans in the comment section, or trying to tell off the stalker children on Arfcom. I'd actually compare him more to Fatrick Hamlinson than Phil.
