The Stebbins v. Bobanks case in Arkansas state court has settled. The terms are undisclosed, which is standard.

Edit: This is the case where Stebbins sued an elder care service who dropped him when no elderly people wanted him around.

I spent some time reviewing the Stebbins v. Redfield (SidAlpha) docket and SidAlpha's videos. I am increasingly of the belief that this is going to end very poorly for Redfield (SidAlpha), for reasons unrelated to the merits.

Stebbins' federal cases rarely make it past a motion to dismiss and into discovery. They never make it to trial. Aside from the user who literally re-uploaded his video, I do not believe any of his lawsuits in the past decade have survived the pleadings stage. For an idea of how much a motion to dismiss costs, Sargon of Akkad spent $33,545.89 getting Akilah Hughes' copyright lawsuit dismissed on a motion to dismiss (not counting the fee motion). This was filed in 2020, and was on the low end at the time it was filed. However, he retained highly-qualified counsel in the most expensive court in America (SDNY), so $40k is a decent ballpark figure today.

Stebbins' defamation lawsuit against Redfield is one of his dumbest lawsuits ever--it is legally deficient on its face. Despite this, Redfield did not file a motion to dismiss after being served. Instead, in ECF 81, Redfield's lawyer insisted Stebbins' case against his client must go to trial rather than being disposed of early. He claimed that "discovery needs to be served," "Stebbins needs to be deposed," and even that "the interpretation of the conflict statements or YouTube videos is best left to the trier of fact, precluding summary judgment." Note that "left to the trier of fact" is legal-ease for "decided at trial."

Even if we assume the case never goes to trial, discovery alone can be a nightmare. Discovery is personally invasive and often the most expensive part of the lawsuit. Robust participation in the discovery process could easily cost $100k at Northern California billing rates. As SmashJT recently found out, non-participation has legal consequences, even if you think you are in the moral right.

One could perhaps justify this decision by speculating that Redfield is extremely wealthy and is willing to spend whatever it takes to annoy Stebbins and create content. However, in a recent video, Redfield claims the >$30k raised for his defense was already exhausted at the time he was served. It is unclear to me why a defendant with (apparently) no money is choosing to litigate this case in the most expensive way possible.

Additionally, it is unclear how Redfield could have exhausted all money raised prior to being served with any lawsuit. It is true that legal services cost 3x more than most people think. However, Redfield's lawyers apparently drained his entire fund prior to filing a single document, leaving him with no funds with which to defend himself. Redfield claimed he had to pay taxes on the money and the remainder was spent by his attorney "monitoring" various Stebbins dockets. To put it bluntly, either Redfield is exaggerating how much money was spent or he has the the wrong attorneys. I do not know SidAlpha and do not watch his videos. However, if it was me, I would start emailing Harden, or literally any qualified attorney who has experience with this type of case.

He probably got the back-pay he was owed and then a small "shut the fuck up and go away payment" because it's cheaper to toss the father stabbing assburger a few bucks then fight him for years in the courts.

Again, it won't change David's life much and we might know next time he files a case IFP as he will have to list it as income.

I figure he lies in those anyway. If he got $1,000 to fuck off but claims it was only $500 - or claims nothing at all - how would anybody know any different?

But, since it is the same judge now that was sitting on both cases, I do wonder if he could twist Stabbin's nuts over the in forma poorfaggotry on Walmart on the basis of having just likely received settlement money from Bobanks.

As if he gives a shit about the law in any aspect other than how he can use it as a weapon, torturing it in an attempt to torture others in facially evident scams to defraud money out of them. The entire first section, and how he completely ignores his (very probably intentional) failure to subpoena the other parties until after the subpoenas had already passed the date that they had to be complied with, is telling. And then he says that they should have just asked him to graciously extend the dates. To me, this was the tell that he did it intentionally, to try to force them onto the backfoot to come crawling to him to negotiate. Instead, they correctly exercised their right to tell him to shove his defective subpoenas up his faggot thai ladyboy craving ass. Ha ha ha, fuck David Stebbins, that's why!
