Chris and his finances: An in-depth review of his debt

Yeah more like ON A ROLL to bankruptcy.

Is it safe to assume that the only reason Chris is finally trying to make money off of Sonichu is because he's maxed out his cards and needs a quick (cwc) buck? Because I figure between his tugboat and Barb's pension, Charb would be just fine abandoning the remains of 14 Branchland and hoarding up the new place for good.
I think, after everything was settled and dealt with, it was determined that Chris would currently have roughly $1000-2000 a month left over with the current living situation. They don't pay rent because of the home insurance so that helps. Barb is likely holding onto that money for rainy days, which means Chris no longer gets the leftovers from his tugboat for toys. Chris claimed to be selling that drawing for debt paying money, but we all know that's not true. He was probably never even going to tell Barb he got the money. Can you image all the shit he'd have boughten with 5 grand or more? So many lego guys... probably all da lego.

And now for some good old-fashioned Wishful Thinking: Chris gets an $8,000 debt consolidation loan, pays off his cards upfront and closes the lot of them. He spends the remaining $500-700 on a huge haul of vidya, McDonalds and plastic crap to satiate his "need" for it, then learns to budget his tugboat so he doesn't end up falling behind on his loan payments.

I wonder if Chris sold Bob's violin, how was he going to explain to Barb it's sudden disappearance? I assume Barb knew of it's existence and wouldn't want him selling it to buy Legos.

Do you think Barb cares that Chris is spending himself into a debt that he'll never actually repay? Especially since the money is being used on Legos and Mc Donald's?

Then again, if she actually cared about her son's future, he wouldn't be the train wreck of a person he is today.

But chris manages all of his tugboat now? I thought that the majority of it going to barb's pocket.

and what about Bob's inheritance (sorry if it's not the correct word) or barb's pension?

She probably knows but doesn't care until a lack of payment somehow starts to affect her (annoying letters, calls, whatever). She'd probably magically care once she's put into a situation where she thinks they can rely on his credit cards in an emergency situation. It's like an idiot neglecting a boat until it eventually starts to sink but they think "It's okay. I think we might have a raft somewhere" only to find the thing broken. They don't blame themselves for treating the boat like shit, they blame whoever they left in charge of the inflatable raft.

I had no idea it was so straightforward to get third-party credit data in the US. Here in the UK it's a hassle to get hold of your own records.

Is there a good recent estimate for the size of the :tugboat:? The $809 figure is from 2010, surely it's risen a little since then to reflect inflation?

Are there any credit records for Barb? Given her apparent poor impulse control, low intelligence and disregard for future consequences, sizeable debts would be a reasonable prediction.

All I can say is that I have no idea what kind of lack of restraint can lead to this level of debt over such shit. Legos? Why can't he just play with the legos he has? Games? Why not just play with the ones he has? Only food and rent are worth going into debt for.

But this is Chris. He's an idiot.

What kind of bank would be stupid enough to give credit cards to autistic manchildren, especially ones that can be debted?

They deserve to loose their money as a penalty for such an incredibly careless action.
