Mega Rad Gun Thread

There are too many problems with both the video and your statement in the context of the subject of purse carry for me not to sperg out and look intensely MATI if I bothered to list them.

Is purse carry good? No, not really.

Is the RMR overpriced and hilariously outdated in 2026? Yes.

I think people forget how many RMR’s are sitting atop ACOGs in places like the Middle East and Sahel though.

Don’t blame me. I’m an ACRO guy.

Only thing I can think is that the CH latch roll pin walked out, but that seems improbable, if not impossible. I just use Radian Raptors now and haven't had any issues with them. I have a couple of BCMs in the parts box - never had issues with them either but they're not quite as nice to use so they got replaced.
I actually find the radian raptor handles to have over large paddles/ handles and like BCM a bit more.

Geissle are also nice but... G$

I took my L6 out again today and it ran perfectly after I cleaned/relubed. I am thinking of getting a UTG overbore bipod because it would look stupid

Like i said before mrs wants an RMR.

She purse carries (we will now velcro and holster) but when it comes to anything, there's the right way to do it and the way we "can" do it. To analogize this, yes a toyota should have slick nascar tires. Well it's gotta go 40k miles and in the rain. So that's not handy... what tires are good for all weather... ok those? well and last? oh... another tire... and cost? another tire.

She won't carry unless it's easy in purse so it's working around that. As said it's a step above of no gun. But lets make it the best way.

Is she carrying in a regular ass purse? You should get one of those tacticool ones with a place built in for a holster or at least put some velcro inside hers so you can stick a holster on it.

I've got one of those Maxpedition sling-style backpacks to keep my shit in at work, and it's got a discrete zippered pocket lined with Velcro loop for velcro backed holsters, mag carriers, etc. I've been looking around and there are quite a few kydex holster makers who offer options with Velcro hook back panels. Even found one who makes a holster like that for my FK Brno PSD. I'm thinking about getting a holster and mag carrier set for the FK Brno and my Staccato P, and probably a carrier for a tactical tourniquet. The pack even has a grab handle so you can yank it around to sit horizontally across your chest/belly to quickly present the zippered CCW pocket. The strap has one of those Bianchi style quick release buckles, and Maxpedition sells a pouch that has a male buckle on one end and female one on the other to go right in the middle of the cross body strap, extending the length, and offering a convenient place to store a handheld flashlight. It's been a really good pack so far, and I got it when Maxpedition was doing a BOGO, so I was also able to get an assault pack for my prepping kit that's the more traditional two-strap style backpack.

With all this talk of carry bags I would just like to throw out the option of a universal magnetic holster. The company Tight Chutes offers their M.A.R.S. Lo-Pro Carry Insert, Magnetic Adaptable Retention System, as a universal velcro backed holster solution for carry bags. I personally use this with their Voyager 2 bag for my everyday carry and im quite happy with it. The woven material is thick enough and stiff enough to prevent something pressing into the trigger guard and the neodymium magnets hold the weapon in place despite vigorous shaking to shift it. This might be an option for someone looking for a slimmer holster that fit just about every pistol under the sun and have kydex levels of retention without having to spend as much and have the flexibility to change pistols and accessories without having to get new holsters everytime.

yknow how ruger has that crazy good investment casting that they use to make the mini 14? well what if they used that tech to make something similar to the old ring of fire pistols, but of actually decent quality? those were already cast of zamak, but what if they were made out of a non-shitty metal? and if still cast they would still be ridiculously cheap. one gets dissasembled in this video and it's amazing how cheap it looks to make.

the p89 was a dirt cheap aluminum frame with a big high strength steel slide. they were $300 guns brand new, they're very cheap used now.

I don't know if cheap metallurgy is going to catch up to cheap polymer manufacture. i think we've kind of reached the end of line when it comes to making guns out of metal, and that's not because i don't prefer it, but it's undoubtable that technology has improved. A design like this is no longer the cheapest possible way to build a gun and there isn't a market for it anymore now that glocks exist, and that $300 s&w bodyguards exist

I've got a P89 i bought NIB 4 or 5 years ago. it's had about 3k rounds through it and I've not lubed or cleaned it yet. no failures. great trigger. unironically the best automatic I've shot. far, far better than the Beretta 92 i had for awhile (to be fair it was a elderly italian surplus 92S)

No really. it's got a long take up but its smooth and light and a very short reset once you learn it.
it's certainly usable but it's just not good in comparison to nearly anything modern. having a really nice, smooth, long double action trigger pull is how you sold guns to boomers in 1985 but it's been obsoleted in nearly every category by newer and cheaper guns. i mean, a gun is a gun, they're still very nice guns, but they aren't nice because they have good triggers. it's like a six pound single that gets heavier until you hit the wall, my cz75 is like four pounds and is completely loose until you feel the wall. the double action is fucking atrocious compared to the ruger, i'll give it that

it makes a very large difference if you're taking more than potshots. like im not gonna pretend that difference is going to save your life or anything but it is what it is

Well fellers, looks like I have suppressor number four on the way. The local shop that I got my SiCo Hybrid 46M had a few of the 9mm cans I've been reading up about in stock. The only one they didn't have was the Huxwrx Flow 9k. I decided to go with the Rugged Suppressors Sub9. Comes out of the box with a tri-lug mount, so it can go right on my Vector. I'll eventually get a HUB Nielsen Device to try on my Staccato P. Its a chubby can, so it likely won't work well on 9mm pistols with standard height irons, but I've got a red dot on my Staccato so it shouldn't be an issue.

The shop also had all the new Colt snake guns I've been wanting to check out. I'm leaning towards the Grizzly (.357 Mag) with 3" barrel. Basically the same as the Python Combat, but with ported barrel and standard length rubber grips instead of the G10 shorty boot grips that come on the Python Combat. And I don't think the Grizzly comes with the tritium front sight like the Combat, but that's easily fixed. However, I still find myself drawn towards getting the Kodiak (.44 mag). The issue being (and it is a minor issue) that Colt doesn't offer the Kodiak or Anaconda with 3" barrels. 4.25" is the shortest available. I want it as a carry gun, and I don't think 4.25" is too long, but I am leaning more towards the 3". I've carried .357 Mag before and know it's a reliable man-stopper, but something about the .44 tickles me. If I go with the .44 I'll likely carry it loaded with either .44 Special defensive loads that are a bit hotter than typical .44 Special, or lighter defensive .44 Magnum loads. Definitely don't plan on loading it with full-house magnums unless I'm out in the woods. Now if I go with the Griz or Python, then absolute I'll be carrying full magnum loads.

Hello friends.

As mentioned a while back, I'm attempting to restore a couple old guns that my dad left me when he died. I have a S&W 19-3 here, and before I get it refinished I wanted to make sure everything was it good order. It's worn, but otherwise looks okay, I think. Everything is here except the bolt plunger and spring, which was here until I left it go flying like a complete retard and it was never seen again. It's only like $10 but dammit... Now to be clear, this thing was 95% disassembled when I got it, so I don't know for sure that this was ever all one piece, although I believe it was. Here's the thing. The side plate doesn't fit the frame.

No, hold on. I don't mean it's hung up on the hammer block. I mean that even with the guts completely pulled out of the gun, the side plate won't drop in. I gave it a couple light taps with a hammer just to be sure, and the thing just plain does not fit. I've watched several videos on how it's supposed to go, and it just... doesn't.

Should this ever happen? Could it possibly be from a different gun of the same type? I've read some things that say the slide plate is fitted to the specific gun. Or am I just retarded?
