The purpose of a system is what it does, not what it claims to do.
The Virginia Penal System is Austin's place to sober up, put on 40 pounds, and get right back to work the second they hand him over to his mom.

I think the logic behind the Commonwealth’s actions with jail and rehab is trying to get it through to the Bossman that it would be in his interest to quit. Of course, the problem is Bossman is not a rational actor logic doesn’t enter into it. There’s a new study that has shown using marijuana as a teenager is tied to a 2x risk of developing bipolar disorder, and the usage predates the psychiatric diagnosis by 1.7-2.3 years, suggesting a developmental link rather than self-medication. It also raised anxiety and depression.

Really, I don’t know what the fuck his parents were doing. I suppose they were boomer permissive parenting. If he was arrested for the break-ins at 14, then it stands to reason his behavior was poor much earlier when they should’ve dealt with it by not doing so they’re suffering the consequences now.

How long does it normally take for the pigs to update their reasoning for detaining a good boy who didn't do nothing wrong?

They already improperly detained Austin for a whole weekend, the rat fucks.

(Honestly I always wonder if Bossman should have just served time on the original charges and been done with it, versus constant probation violations. He'd have been out and clear already on the original car break in charges that started this whole song and dance).
