Piracy General

I hate them all. Literally entire panels, offices, conference rooms, etc. filled with people whose entire job is "how do we make this harder to repair so we can make more money?" They deserve poverty and misery, and to watch their families struggle to pay to replace their iPhone batteries twice a month.
Everything is like this now.

I sold my previous car because the light cluster was not user repairable. It was relatively low mileage (45000 miles) and 13 years old.

It had this fancy system that moves the lights around as you corner and keeps the lights level on the road. It also uses Xenon headlights these can blow and take a "ballast" which regulates the current/voltages going to the Xenon lights.

Replacing the bulb coast about ~$110. The "ballast" costs ~$270. So a simple bulb change can cost you almost $400. To make matters worse removing the cluster is at least a 30 minute-1 hour job as you have to partially remove the front bumper to remove it.

Over time the seal/glue between the clear lens and the back of the light cluster will go bad. It can't be easily repaired. Once it starts leaking it needs to be replaced. The light cluster itself (without bulbs or ballast) from manufacturer costs $2400. So if your bulb goes because the wet got to it, it can be $2700-$2800 before any labour. The car would be worth ~$2000.

I ended up going to a breakers yard and found a complete light cluster (with working bulbs) and ballast for about $350 and fitting it myself. The self levelling system never worked and I couldn't find out why. I would need a advanced diagnostics ODB2 scanner which costs a fair bit to diagnose the fault properly as my phone ODB2 scanner will only do engine codes.

This car was built before everything got really bad, newer cars I've heard are worse.

If you compare that to my 90s vehicle. To replace every light on the vehicle costs $350. Replacing a light is 5-10 minute job.

For hypervisor crack, could you just disable your internet on the PC used for gaming so that nobody could attack it?

How easy is pirating games on Linux? I use fitgirl repacks on a windows machine that is only used for gaming, my internet laptop is all Linux.
I hate windows and want to move away from it. I have Microsoft office installed on linux using Playonlinux. Will that work for the repacks?
For fit girl usually installing through lutris and turning off your intenet is usually enough. I have found that older repacks or cracks for games can sometimes have issues. Most recently Startcraft 2 has not been running. But most other games have run fine.
I would use Lutris over Bottles because bottles is worse as giving you all the stuff you need for your wine prefix.

I hate this fucking faggotry. Has any fitgirl release ever been shown to contain a cryptominer, install malware, modify OS files, or transmit anything over the network (locally or internet) in any fashion?

Literally just one example will do.

No reputable release group would do that because they'd be blacklisted from every torrent site in hours. Don't download games or programs from public trackers and you'll be fine.

Exactly my point. Every person who randomly claims "oh lol XYZ release always has cryptominers in it or has a virus or spams the network" is a fucking retard.

I think there may have been an issue with impostors who'd create sites indistinguishable from the "official" one in order to spread malware. That's why they (plural because I assume FG is a group rather than just one guy) always put up the message about using only a single specific URL. I'm just speculating here.

Coincidentally i only see people on leddit parrot this bullshit. I pirate for as long as i've lived basically and never encountered something like this, even when getting games from shady russki sites.

I don't take anything Reddit says with any sort of seriousness because nobody there has any idea wtf they are talking about. My final confirmation was when there were threads after threads of people claiming DDR games don't work on MAME until one day one of the MAME devs had to step in and tell them they had no idea wtf they were talking about because they do in fact work on MAME.

Anytime I'm looking for info on a search engine and the first few links are reddit posts I immediately ignore them and treat them the same way i would treat spam in my email.

I turn off my internet as a best practice. Some of the games act funny and try to reach out to servers after the install even when cracked. Blocking the internet using a firewall or something like bubblewrap is just a best practice for pirated games.
It has nothing to do with viruses or cryptominers or whatever you're getting mad at me about.

When Game of Thrones was at the height of its popularity. There were news articles out in like most of the popular online slop news sites that the authorities were monitoring game of throne torrents to catch people watching Season 6 Finale. This was obviously done to scare people out of downloading it via Torrents.

I believe a lot of the fear-mongering around torrents is astro-turfed i.e. literally F.U.D

I believe that's how they're able to send nastygrams about torrents, if they're watching. But generally only the newest stuff is risky.

Does anyone else have trouble getting IPT torrents to seed?

The three with ratios <1 are all from IPT. One of them, Undertone, has been seeding for over a week. That's longer than any other title. Aside from Big Boobs Buster, the three from IPT are the only ones that have been seeding for more than 24 hours.
