Our enemies are poor and broken. And more will be too.

Sheryl
Cowan, whose Senior VP job at a USAID-funded org gave her a $270k+ salary, had spent the last decade working for this USAID funded org:
CNFA collected over $70M in 2024...$20M of which actually went to doing what they say they do. From their Form 990:
Note that $28M went to paying salaries. Well, that doesn't really mean anything unless we know how many employees we're talking about.
Wait. 101 employees....$28M in salaries...make it make sense.
She's one of the top 5 compensated employees, which makes the $28M for 101 employees a real headscratcher.
Elizabeth Jones, aka
Lizzie Jones, made very nearly $400k total in 2024. Oh, but she's a "technical director." Except that before working for this org all she'd been was a project coordinator, absolute low-level garbage work. What the fuck did this person need a $400k salary for? She got an MA in international development in 2010 and made more with 14 years of experience than many doctors or lawyers with equivalent experience.
The COO/secretary of the board got his start at Deloitte, making and privatizing banks.
Their "chief people officer" (head of HR) made $255k in salary, for a position that typically would make nowhere near that in the vast majority of the private sector.
This is crazy shit to me because in, e.g., tech companies with similar size operations to these guys, only the top engineers and maybe the VP of sales would make more than a quarter mil. These people are being paid like top-level employees in top-level industries.
Wasn't the nonprofit world supposed to involve giving up a lot of monetary gain in order to be a do-gooder or whatever? I wonder how many dollars of USAID funding went to give ridiculous people a ridiculous lifestyle for every dollar spent on actually helping the people they were supposed to help.
