Argue about the best ways to cheat at a Casino

Is card counting even feasible if the dealer is using a twelve deck shoe?
12 deck counting with 468 cards is nuts but possible. Only someone autistic or with lots of practice. I don't know why you would torture yourself with doing it. Vegas only does 6-8 deck shoes. For a 12 deck shoe, Id rather just go play craps or baccarat and enjoy myself.

Actually counting works best with large shoes. Just re-shuffling every time makes counting pretty much impossible. This is why so many Vegas games have single decks and reshuffle every time. Counting is ludicrously difficult these days.

I miss the days you could just utterly rip off casinos.

I miss the days when full-pay Jacks or Better was basically free money.

Is card counting even feasible if the dealer is using a twelve deck shoe? Maybe a person can get a small edge when most of it has been played through if they've been able to see and track all of the cards dealt, but the casinos are good at countering the so called "systems" that people try to use. Some even claim that the casinos are the ones who publish the books, etc. on card counting so that they can draw in more suckers who think they now have an edge.
For the vast majority of people it's next to impossible. But for a very select few who can work the odds and have a mutant ability to remember everything it's possible. Meaning we're looking at maybe a hundred people in the world capable of doing so? And the minute they start winning too much the Pit Boss comes over and says, "you're done".

You walk away with a couple million but that's all you get and casinos talk meaning the moment you get kicked out the Belagio your name and picture is being sent to every casino on the strip and beyond saying, "don't let this guy on the floor".

Like it or not the casino can say who plays and who doesn't.

It's to the point that people are saying that if you see a continuous shuffle device on the Blackjack table just don't play. The odds are too high in favor of the house and blackjack has always had the best odds out of any casino game.

I'm reminded of the graduate students who figured out how to "beat" roulette
It's the power of math baby!

The key is how often they shuffle, and that if they think you're counting and winning they'll shuffle more often.

But Vegas loves counters - because the number of people who think they can count blackjack is way, way higher than the number who can actually count it.

Wasn't that the one they made the movie of with Kevin (actually grosser than Russ) Spacy? Was good film.

I play cards with my family and am a huge math geek. So I need 2 martinis before we break out our family games hand and foot, dueling solatire (spite and malice etc) cribbage. I don't even try to cheat it just clicks. It's not even a self brag it just pops in my mind. When you look into vegas shit etc, it's wild they can do it.

Thread tax, Rusty is sleeping in a NissanLeaf used, with stolen money. Sadly the gov won't act like Hyman Roth about him being a thief who won't pay.

The sole purpose of resort fees is to make their rooms on paper look like $30/night or $50/night in advertisements and on online booking sites like priceline and expedia so when you hit sort by price it will always make their shit at the top of their lists since they always exclude "taxes and fees" as is customary in America.

Here's an example on Expedia, which now includes resort fees in the price and sorts accordingly to fuck the resorts for this, this is the cheapest strip hotel, the Strat.

TMI and minor derail, but fuck the restaurant at the top. Something along these lines:

Yeah they have what they call a "black book" (now it's computerized) where they keep pictures of people no longer allowed to play blackjack (or sometimes anything else). That's also usually when people get greedy, like those roulette guys. You have a 44 percent advantage on the house? Do NOT fully exploit that. They'll let it slide if you are jerking them around for a percent or two. Start winning huge? You're done. They really don't even care how or why, you're just done. They are not legally obligated to do business with you.

This is why you don't get arrested for card counting. As much as the casinos argued decades ago that just playing something well is somehow "cheating," not even Nevada courts bought this bullshit. But they have no obligation to let you play.

You're rarely going to get a great count but you can get an at least decent count, and the kind where you aren't going to win enough to get you banned.
Sounds like a great setup for a movie! :smug:
The issue with a 12 deck shoe (or anything of similar size) is that if you get a couple decks into it and the count sucks, it isn't getting better and you'll be waiting a long time for another shot at a good count. Not even Rain Man can magically turn a deck into having a good count. Hence the comments you'd be better off doing something else.

There's also the fact that (especially in Vegas) they now give shit odds, like 6:5 for a blackjack. That shit is just not worth playing at all, ever. Also a lot of the best edges can't really be exploited any more either. If you're suddenly upping your bet and doing stuff like splitting tens, but just when the count is good, it doesn't take a genius to figure out what you're doing. Never mind the "ploppies," (disparaging term for blackjack losers) will whine and complain if you start doing shit like that because they think it's bad luck or whatever.

Yeah, you can't win. This is why I like that one thing so much. This: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey's_Resort_Hotel_bombing
