This is a good way to articulate it.Like a lot of life now it feels like people aren't into it for the thing itself, but rather the feeling of being in on things and the aesthetic of being a cyberpunk-esque "guy who knows what's up" while the stupid peasant consumers around you don't understand.
I feel like him and people in the recent wave of Conspiracy heads are more focused on performing that role rather than just doing digging and research and presenting it.
It's not just "here's the information I found, you need to know it"
It's "lemme make sure I look cool as fuck/really smart doing this"
So there's nothing wrong really, but Flesh, and similar channels to me are kinda like the Bill Nye of conspiracies. He's not actually a scientist, but is passionate about science so made a show to make it more popular. Same idea with Flesh and the conspiracies he covers.
It's the same thing as Wendigoon playing into it and the snowclone "this man has a lot to live for and can swim!!" comments when a video's information is also in the Wikipedia article.
Everyone wants to be the vindicated red-string-wall conspiracy theorist, but nobody wants to research like one.
