What were the mistranslations? I read DRV3 a while back and don't recall anything like that, but two lines out of thousands wouldn't have stood out to me.

I played it at least a few years back but there is one thing that might count for anti-woke. I'm sure one of the killers was like an insane kind of a troonesque/deviant guy I think. He is wearing a mask, and it is revealed that he was wearing make-up under it because he pretends to be his dead sister, which it was also implied that he had sex with her and that he was killing "for her".
Although I played it a few years ago so my memory might be kind of fuzzy, correct me if I said something wrong.

Was anyone able to stomach it enough to actually finish it? You get the transgender furry princess following you around at the start and she doesn't shut up for literally the entire expansion. The game literally stops when she's not on screen so you can wait for her to come back, and even when her story's done supposedly she just comes back 5 minutes later to be your sidekick (the main character) while you do main character (sidekick) things like save the world.

All while the game had the exact same gameplay loop including "do this dungeon to get gear to do this 8 man to get gear to do this 24 man now do that weekly/daily until you're geared up for the new dungeon we'll add in a few months..."

While Dawntrail's story is extremely lacking, everything post 7.0 is actually alright. Not amazing 10/10 stuff but it won't be agonizing for those who play with the English VAs. Wuk Lamat's (the character you're refering to) overall presence in Dawntrail's story is considerably reduced in the Post-Dawntrail MSQ and she does disappear from the story when it starts focusing on Krile and Sphene. Patch 7.5 will be out next Tuesday, and Wuk Lamat's last apperance was in 7.3, two major patches ago. She also hasn't appeared within promotional material since 7.3 as that's when she disappears.

- A joking line that Monokuma "gets all his alternative facts from the best fake news", in a scene where Monokuma is wearing a fascist dictator hat.
- A character is told to "make this country great again!"; the line is read out by Monokuma in a faux-Trump voice. (Specifically, (spoilers) it's from when one of the characters is revealed to be the Prime Minister of Japan.)

Yeah, that is also true. I did not include it in my writeup, because the character in question is very obviously crazy, and nobody would mistake him for some sort of "trans representation".

Well, thanks for drawing my attention - I actually forgot about some LGBT-themed content. Seems I can't edit my old post for some reason, so here are the additional bullet points, with all ratings raised to Mild for people who can't handle any mention of LGBT-adjacent topics at all:

Danganronpa 1: Trigger Happy Havoc: Mild
  • Crossdressing is discussed.

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair: Mild
  • LGBT content:
    • Slight "ship tease" jokes about a friendly relationship between two girls.
    • One of the characters behaves sort-of ambiguously gay sometimes.
    • At one point, when describing a video game, a character says with disappointment that there's no "romantic chemistry" between two girl characters.

  • LGBT content:
    • One of the characters, Tenko, has a clear (but unreciprocated) lesbian crush on another girl. The game never treats it as anything but silly and annoying. (And for those sickly curious, Tenko's Love Hotel scene reveals that she actually does like men.)

However, none of it is enough to raise the games above "mild". I disagree that the games deserve anything near a "heavy" rating.

Yes, obviously the presence of things like "femboys", lesbian crushes, etc. isn't quite based, trad and wholesome. Still, this thread is about "woke". Way I see it, there's a distinction between "woke" and merely pervy. "Woke" is when the media creator actively wants to distort society to their ideology, and instead of acknowledging their interests are skeevy, they insist that actually they should be considered normal. (I don't recall ever seeing a pride flag in any Japanese manga or games, even ones with explicitly gay themes.)

Japanese games have two girls grope each other naked because haha, it's sexy (then the main character walks in on them, and tells them that it's wrong because girls can't love girls. In the epilogue, the same girls get married to handsome men and have tons of kids. The western fanbase riots and seethes).

Western games have two (mixed-race) girls (one of which is a post-op transsexual with a hammer-and-sickle tattoo) grope each other naked (followed by a long, amorous kiss while a museum and a church burns in the background) because the author wants to destroy Christian civilization, and they will gleefully make it clear to you.

Reminds me of the time where in this thread I argued that Arknights should be at least Mild/Medium because it features lesbos in a post-apocalypse setting (the same reasoning for why TLOU2's lesbo relationship makes no sense). Then the faggots here say "but muh eastern values say lesbo = pure" copium.

Also, you should look at Last Academy's "inspiration": 13 Sentinels. That one should be Medium/Heavy because it features a gay relationship as a part of the main plot, so you can't even kill the characters/skip it.

Many games such as Danganronpa or Persona series have a large staff and among them there are 100% some weird fujoshit artists or other kinds of coomers squealing and shilling in to add more faggot shit into the plot as the game is being developed. Putting in gay shit because of "the writer's barely disguised fetish" reasons feels meaningfully different from putting in gay shit for political reasons, the latter also often being preachy and having ugly characters. If you're offended by any hint of homolust in games then you do you, but I don't think it really counts as "woke" if there's no clear political element, as otherwise we're stuffing so much into "woke" that it comes close to being a meaningless descriptor. It also just feels stupid to imply that leftists have a monopoly on being a coomer who jerks off to lesbians.
