Reddit's having a sane and rational reaction to all this, as usual.
Hmmm
Redditor claims:
There’s so many weird details here.
1: Wolf Blitzer said the guy was “shooting randomly.”
2: Other journalists said they heard chanting of “USA.”
3: It took like a full minute after the shots for Trump to be moved off stage (which they did incredibly slowly, although to be fair, the guy can’t really move fast).
4: Neither he nor any of the other people at his table even reacted to the gunfire when it happened. You can see it in the video, they didn’t even blink.
5: No reports of deaths or injuries (yet) and they’ve already confirmed they’re gonna continue the dinner.
Some Fox reporter is saying the shooter’s firearm was detected when they passed through the magnetometer, which is when they began shooting. So were they planning to assassinate Trump? This was INCREDIBLY poorly planned if that was their goal. It just makes no sense.
Edit: Audio of the shots is admittedly a little harder to hear than it initially sounded to me, so I can see why they might not have reacted immediately. Also, the dinner is actually postponed, to be resumed sometime in the next month. Curious to see if Trump uses this as an excuse to avoid it. I completely forgot but the correspondents dinner is where
Obama roasted Trump to his face that one time, so he obviously hates going lol
