I don't want to say nothing ever happens because sometimes it does, but what was the last shooting that pushed things in any direction? Columbine? I read just a few days ago that most of the people who signed up at TPUSA chapters after Carlos Kirk got shot don't donate funds or attend meetings. Who still remembered Trump's ear before today? Gabby Gifford, the congressional baseball game.. The only reason people ever mention Sandy Hook is when Alex Jones comes up. Americans are just too siloed, the only thing that matters is assigning/avoiding blame.

That's extremely pessimistic considering that this was around election time when people were already fatigued over Biden, ("price of eggs" etc.). The thing that essentially sealed the fate of the Dems was Kamala running eight days right after the assassination attempt.

The stock market is going up but the wealth gap is severe on top of layoffs, basically, the whole "price of eggs" shit but amplified both by tariffs and the Iran war. Many of the people who were originally part of MAGA are starting to question what they're even supporting, even the common bread-and-circuses routines like, "look a tranny did a thing! look a nigger shot someone!" aren't doing much.

But what you're saying isn't that unfounded, because it's genuinely possible for Democrats to truly fuck this one up, it would just require literal self-sabotage. I could see them running a candidate whose going to assert that "Israel has a right to defend itself, and we need more DEI."

That's what really gets me about MAGA. They don't give a flying fuck about the actual people. So long as rich techbros and billionaires get theirs, MAGA is happy.

I wouldn't even call the performative bullshit on trannies and black crime "bread and circuses" considering the latter at least was free and kept you alive and entertained. You got to eat, you see people gutting each other for your entertainment, meanwhile modern people have to pay taxes as a subscription service to life, all the while the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Californian trying and failing to shoot him would make large numbers of average Americans suddenly disregard their skyrocketing cost of living and decide they like him now.

That only matters in an election year, which it isn't for Trump. It's a nothingburger story that will fade while his current crises are still active. The Strait of Hormuz still needs to be open to all and Trump is preventing that with his shitty diplomacy, the Epstein Files still loom over his head, his brain is still turning into Swiss cheese, and now his military selectively follows orders in fear of committing high-profile war crimes like using nukes in a war of aggression.
