I think this is the most likely possibility, mainly because with the new information that we got about it, it really feels like he fell for a scam and basically got taken to town by Meta PC. It doesn't help that this is right after Sydney Watson milked him dry too.

Because of his weird desire to pajmax by trying to keep his izzat intact at all costs, he probably put himself into a similar debt hole to DSP back when he screwed up the condo.

I think I can somewhat parse their logic for this. Telling someone with a weak spirit to kill themselves sends powerful psychic energy directly into their skull that may compel the future suicide victim to immediately jump off a bridge. In a way, it's just pure luck that you didn't manage to kill them. You are no different to them than a wizard casting a fire spell.
