Mega Rad Gun Thread

Sounds like the latest Trump attempted assassin is a fan of Karl's:

His commie gun club is named after a Civil War-era abolitionist group (that ironically was affiliated with the Republican Party).

He also used some really cheap guns:

Please tell me he charged the Secret Service carrying the gaudiest cheap nickel plated 1911 he could get his hands on.

Whoever does the stocking for the local big box sporting goods store near me is kind of an idiot. But that has its pro's and con's. When I want to go ice fishing it sucks ass because they dont keep up with stocking bait. But sometimes they stock a Hi-point c9 and cant sell it because there arent enough niggers around the area in desperate enough need of a ghetto blaster to aschew a glock. So then it gets marked down to $99 bucks and now it beckons to me like the green goblin mask everytime Im in there. Is a hi-point worth it at less than a hundred bucks? just to have something to plink 9mm with? I have zero expectations of actually CCing or solely relying on it for my self defense.
I had similar luck at my local Wal-Marts reloading aisle. got a RCBS uniflow powder dispenser for just $80 dollars because they had it in the wrong place in the cabinet. normal price was $120 IIRC. the sporting goods guy let me have it for the false price.

Update on My abomination SMLE, took it out to the range recently and put about 100 rounds through it opossed to the 20 I did during the initial check I did, in the previous update linked here https://kiwifarms.st/threads/mega-rad-gun-thread.550/post-24032102
I said it shot fine but here are some actual results.

Heres a grouping (left plate) done at 50 yards while standing and shooting quickly i was averaging groups this size over the course of 40 rounds after figuring out where it hit in relation to the iorn sights, luckily no wandering zero only hits low and to the right.

Here is an example of the groups i was hiting on average at 100yds while siting with the rifle supported, firing every 5 seconds, im avarageing about a 3 inch group, im going to see next time if im able to get a smaller group but its hard to not be tempted to fire the fucker fast. Over all pretty good for some shitty ishaprore wood with a harbor freight bedding job.

certainly minute of deer. the dinner plate measure is just about a perfect analog for the vital area of a common White tail. as long as it groups inside that at any given distance you're good. what ever distance where the group begins to get flyers off the plate is your max range.

91/30 prices are pretty inflated.

I remember reading somewhere someone making the opinion that prices for surplus firearms these days reflecting their true prices versus the old days when you could get a $90 Mosin or $175 SKS because the market had been saturated with abundant fresh surplus weapons at the time, thus supply being much higher and prices lower. Now the supply is lower and the demand higher, so the prices have gone up to reflect weapons made "the old way".

looking at prices for mosins before the USSR fell (1980s) they seem to reflect the prices of today, so that probably is true. even in the 90s the BATF recognized that SKS rifles were way, way cheaper as surplus rifles than they would be if they were produced and sold for a profit

Once I got some Winchester 12 ga steel shot at Meijer that they had on clearance for 54 cents a round. I couldnt pass that up!

Next time, shoot from a rest before you play around with positions so that you know what the gun and ammo is mechanically capable of and aren't just measuring the wobbliness of your arms.
I did the first 20 rounds from a rest at 50yds to figure out where it was hitting just didn't take any pictures

Secret service mp7.webp

I just realized the plainclothes SS carries the MP7, I'm guessing slightly shorter barrel SS version of the UZI has been officially retired a while ago.

My real question is has anyone done any studies either anecdotal or clinical studies on the 4.6X30 performance on soft tissue? Anyone know if they are running JHPs/ Frangible something more "crowd safe"? I always believed this was designed for light body armor should something like a paratrooper attack come behind the lines. SS security detail concerned with active threats with kevlar? Has anyone ever attacked the POTUS wearing anything resembling body armor?

Not wearing it, but the golf course shooter had homemade plates he made out of tiles. They were in a plate carrier that he draped over the fence he was trying to shoot through for cover while he laid prone on the ground

Ah, the hardware store tile body armor thing. Wasn't started by the fat retard on "doomsday preppers"? I recall him being mocked relentlessly for being a convicted felon prohibited from owning firearms and going on TV showing a shotgun and 30.06 bolt action he had probably acquired in a no questions cash private sale; in addition monologing into the camera how he couldn't wait for the collapse of society to forcefully take peoples other peoples tactically superior AR's. He never explained the details on how a fat fuck with bolt action rifle was going to win firefight against anyone with a basic bitch AR-15. I think his neighbors saw him on TV and called local LE. Total lolcow.

If you can find a gun store with a Silencer Shop kiosk that was a pretty painless experience for me. It takes your fingerprints digitally, just takes a few minutes, fill out the necessary info either in the app or on the kiosk, then you upload a photo in the app and you're pretty much done. Gun store receives the info, takes your money and holds the can, and you get an email when you're approved by the ATF. Took about a month for a trust purchase to be approved, but this was back in mid-2024, no idea what the wait is these days

My only complaint is that I'm supposed to be able to view my stamp on the silencer shop site but it never showed up so I have to go to the ATF site to find it, not that I've needed it, and I have the physical paperwork anyway
I had a pretty painless experience with my first can - approved in like four days. The one I just finished taking delivery of took two weeks for final approval. Still waiting (two weeks and counting) on my form 1s.

That show was an absolute gold mine for lolcows. Remember the creepy old prospector looking fuck who wanted to lure post apocalyptic children into his underground compound (a buried school bus)?
