I know he has a YouTube rep and all, but I wonder if him blowing so much money on their advertising puts him in a special tier of creator, like a whale tier. I suppose it makes business sense to nuke small channels if it means he keeps blowing half his mortgage on advertising shorts

I think there are at least three overlapping things happening in this Venn diagram. One, Jerjeet Hamblychandran himself and his own flaggotry. Two, other opportunists exploiting the door he opened with his flaggotry to commit their own. Three, internal Alphabet/Youtube changes to their video management system to remove humans as much as possible from the management layer and testing their coming censorship as they transition away from user content toward corporate content and to the environment those corporate interests will demand and require.

The first two reasons are on Hambly, The third one is just the contemporary background (and part of what is driving Jerjeet off his cliff). I think that in time, Hambly will be seen as one of many notable exits of Youtube careerists. He will be far from alone in that, and so unremarkable. But he may prove to be unique in exiting the Youtube stage as such an absolute flaming bitch baby alcoholic that he is.

i wonder how youtube is structured because jeremy makes it sound like it if you happen to get favor from the rep they assign you then the rep has free reign to just do whatever he wants on your behalf. basically it sounds like if you meet your rep and theyre a big fan of your show you just have carte blanche through them with no oversight to ban and purge as you see fit.
