Iran Crisis & the 2026 War between Iran and the United States, Gulf States, and Israel - Please focus on news and coverage, not argumentation.

I knew a Vietnam Vet who did 3 tours then got out, and went from 60% to 40% based on some fuckity math and was grumbling but didn't really care because he had a day job. One of the guys I knew got out with 30 that was lowered to a 10 (and he fought it and got it back to a 20). No one I knew who wasn't extremely, obviously fucked up got out with a 100.
Everything you're saying is true. Everything I am about to say is also true:

I'm talking about people who joined in like 2022, or at least post 2020. I am talking about zoomers who saw no combat, mostly zero-skilled reservists and guardsmen. They claim to have mental injuries that are not medically visible. Depression and anxiety cannot be seen on any diagnostic test.

They just say, "During basic training, I was worried every day and every night North Korea would nuke the base. I am ruined for life," then some therapist signs off on it, giving the military member (who, again, has no skills or ability to make money) the financial equivalent of several owned rental properties for the rest of their life. Or, more realistically, they will say less. They won't even elaborate on a reason of why being in the military gave them permanent anxiety and clinical depression.

People over 30 go insane because it was never possible to get permanent $3000 a month payments for the rest of your life when they were in. But that is possible now.

I seriously believe there would be protests in the streets if people, especially military people who served in the past, knew the sheer scale of this new system.

From Trump's presser today, much of it is just the usual stump speech about "No navy, no air force." Still, he does mention towards the end that we have a bunch of shiny, new anti-drone tech in the region that we didn't have before (lasers and high-accuracy machine guns). We've been tracking everything they've dug up during the ceasefire, so it'll all be gone in "the first fifteen minutes" of combat operations resuming.

Meanwhile, Bessent said that he and the Treasury are directly responsible for the December economic implosion that kick-started the January riots, and he's only going to go harder in the coming days and weeks.

As a bonus, during Hegseth's Congressional testimony today, he spent two minutes shitting on some Californian Congresscritter who called Iran a "quagmire."

You're clearly just repeating what other people say and don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Veterans benefits is a literal drop in the bucket compared to social security, medicaid, and medicare.
Well, yes, I am repeating what the US federal budget said. Which is that about $152 billion was appropriated for FY2025 to pay veteran disability benefits. Which is a large number any way you look at it. $152 billion is about 3-4% the size of FY2025 Social Security + Medicare + Medicaid spending, so it's a pretty large drop in the comparison bucket

It is. You're just lying. If the US military pays its own staff, or a third party contractor, that is considered defense spending in the budget. Even if the person they're paying is a nigger believe it or not.

You literally just make shit up.
Nigga literally thinks there's a "Red Sea Trading Company" in the Caymans that works as a DoD slush fund to pay BAS for dependas, and vets getting 50% disability for varicose veins.

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announces that the US blockade on Iran means there are now '41 tankers with 69 million barrels of oil that the Iranian regime can't sell', with a value of over $6 billion.

Yeah I think you should've realize a few things when looking at the statistics:
  • Most of the veterans benefits are given out for legitimate reasons
  • 3-4% is really small by comparison
  • It makes more sense to deal with the issues ongoing within Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid because those programs manage significantly more money

Neocon thinking and realpolitik also built us a massive empire at the low cost of something like 100k soldiers and money we were spending anyway. America still hasn’t stopped being rich, fuck it hasn’t even stopped being the richest.

Iraq and Afghanistan did have some purpose, the GWOT basically worked, just slowly and without some great final victory. Ultimately the back of international Salafist terror was broken, the gulf monarchies changed course, Iran was deprived of its chance to be a true regional power, Baathist states collapsed one by one, and the biggest powers in the Middle East are explicit US allies. Israel flourished and a new more rational generation of leaders took their place. Even the Taliban is qualitatively different now. Biden cocked up the withdrawal but he was gonna fuck up everything he could, the man has Swiss cheese for a brain.

It’s sad that soldiers die and often for reasons that are ignoble or strange or for some doomed cause with no great redemption or victory at the other side. But that is the core of soldiering. There are very few noble deaths in war, and fewer noble causes, held to by all belligerents. But America defeated international communism in the Cold War through continuous military pressure and locking moribund economies into massive spend offs in R&D and standing armies they couldn’t afford. It was worth it for us. Those countries maybe could have stuck it out just as slowly developing but dysfunctional states, but not in competition with a functional state.
Yeah, people forget that we just tolerated a few bombings every now and then as just the cost of sharing a world with savages who didn't know any better and couldn't know any better. And then bin Laden proceeded to do something nobody could simply write off as just savages being savages.

Of course the Islamists did manage to take over a couple of nations like the UK and Sweden and use them as their new terrorist training and recruitment grounds, so it sadly wasn't as total as I would have liked.

Hey man, they've increased spending 10,000 times to show how much they care! From 5 dollars to 50,000 dollars, 90% of which goes to a campaign donor contractor and not the recipient.
I hope the quality of their weapon is better than their videos talking about it, because I haven't seen a 240p vid in a long while.
Good-quality internet is still expensive as hell in the third world, even DSL. I know Starlink has done some great work getting the world connected but the Iranian government seems opposed to it for some reason.

I'd say that's pretty significant circumstantial evidence that the Gayatollah either kicked the bucket at some point, or he's still in a coma and the IRGC are taking the opportunity to just set up their own military junta, because even with their Most Favored Organization status, there's no way in hell they'd have tried something like this when the prior leaders were alive. Where are the other mullahs even showing up in all of this?

It's Stud, of course he would turn an offhand comment like "I could end it in two to three days" said like we could flatten them overnight but chose not to and make it out to be "it was always supposed to be a weekend affair"
I feel like you guys are focusing on the least germane aspect of my post

we are 60 days into this shit show with no end in sight
