Elden Ring

Tbh i think the formula is getting really stale. I rather play Sekiro because at least it was honest being a rythm memory game masquerading as an action/stealth game
they've been making the same dungeon crawler (effectively) since King's Field 1.

you can either stay on board, or fuck off, if its stale, I'm sorry you feel that way, I, however, do not.

I'll get their next big RPG no matter what, I'm certain I will be entertained, but I too hope they change the formula. They could even keep the fundamentals but change the way they're handled.

Perhaps other evasion mechanics than rolling 34 times like a retard, a slicker casting system, might be cool. Or totally new, interesting and meaningful mechanics that require commitment, like Sekiro's deflections did. Who knows?

ER wasn't guaranteed to be a huge success, they didn't expect the sales it got. They might have decided early on to keep it very approachable for the souls people. I don't mind the game playing it safe and being very familiar, and I do like how the combat feels but now they have a chance to innovate hard. They're creative people, they probably want to. Then again they're also appreciative of their audience and they don't mind giving them what they want. In any case it's going to be really interesting what comes after Duskbloods.

They might keep taking the familiar route with their "big" games and make a bunch of Sekiros on the side with those profits when they want to experiment.

Just saying.

Even with the same formula, Fromsoft has a very dedicated and autistic fan base.
A lot of people will still play their games, because they're good in spite of their more lackluster elements.
You and I both know the games would be better with some changes, but they're japs, so that means change is not something they will embrace quick, especially if things still work well for them.
The problem will be made apparent later, when older generations won't play their game and the new ones will find their mechanics boomer tier.

tbh i played all of their games but ER was the one that made me quit for good. Too repetitve, too samey, too "fair and balanced". By the time i reached Leyndell the first time i wished the game was over and it was pretty bad when i had to keep going.

I guess i'll stick to Rimworld

Marika isn't marking Ranni as the winner, she likely knew Ranni would straight up be cut from her body and thus her fate, Ranni cannot win the whole shebang because of this, she is choosing Ranni because Ranni will not chose to stop the War or solidify everything.

and Did Marika set into motion freedom? do you really think our PC will stay the Elden Lord? the entire speil from Gideon about Marika's intent stats taht she knows a man can never kill a God, aka HER, and by this he means no one can turn the system off, even turning her into a frozen Statue, she's still "there" and all her reality warping still in effect, all you can do is steer the ship or straight up destroy the Universe in the Frenzy Flame ending, which she would be fine with.

Only Ranni seemingly, can send her out of this world, since she's an Empyrean and you basically grant her the might of the Elden Ring in that ending, this doesn't really end the conflict, after you leave, people will fight over the rubble, Marika simply wants everyone to fight over ruling, forever.

IMO, I'm actually pretty sure that Marika literally just rage quit and blew up the ring because she got tired of existing after Godwynn died.

Frankly she does not seem to be alive in any ending.

Basically. Marika got to see her entire people turned into meat-jars, completely justifiably counter-genocided the people who did it, and then made the golden order without death specifically so she wouldn't have to lose anyone she gave a damn about again... Then all of her kids were born gigacursed and the one that wasn't, half-died in such a way that the living part is just a fucking cancer on reality.

She basically just gave up, decided all the shit she had done wasn't worth it, likely figured out that the fingers didn't know what the fuck they were doing at some point, and ultimately decided to wipe the board for someone to be able to try something different.

the DLC actually paints that she became a God to fuck everything up from the onset, and every action, removing Death, ect... was so that it would maximalize the chaos when she broke the Ring later.

hell the main game paints this too, Marika, to everyone, is a horrifying figure, there's no descriptors of love or honor or anything about Marika from anyone who met her, and even the people who worship her, do so because she gave out Mana from the Heaven and was a God, nothing more.. the mere existence of Melina as a time-bomb Ghost that she had prepped for eons is another tell, everything is in the presentation and description of Marika, a figure you are never even presented with the face of in the entire game.

Marika is a really cool character. All the visuals about her, starting from the intro imagery, are just outstanding to me. It evokes something immediately. There is so much expression in a single pose.

While the nature of the narrative is a bit too open-ended for me and I'm not even of the opinion that the story is this carefully crafted airtight master puzzle, she still remains one character that just intriques me to no end. She might be my favorite video game character ever along with the main character of Disco Elysium.

And I don't even get to talk to her once. Inb4 one of you fuckers tells me that Marika's vocal essence is stored in gold-tinged excrement, which means she speaks to me when I touch shit, which means Dung Eater's bowels contain a lot of her wisdom, which is the reason the guy violates other peoples' assholes out of retarded rage. The one thing he hates lives inside his own fucking rectum and he can't do dung about it. But the player sure can!

Except she also specifically commissioned a weapon capable of killing her, and seems to truly not give a damn what happens if someone gets to her and wants to fix things... If anything, she decided her order was a mistake at some point, and decided to tear down the thing she had built.

You're the type of nigga who tells the table about the rich floral aroma in a 5$ bottle of wine.

That intrigue is artificially created.
Fromsoft games are what happens when you take a mediocre story, put it in a blender and scatter the pieces.
Some inevitably get lost and you replace those missing parts with your own imagination. It's not a bad tactic, but to my eyes it's cheap and cowardly.
If you tell a full story, then that will be scrutinized in full by the readers, but if you tell pieces and you're vague, the reader's imagination does the heavy lifting and scrutiny is futile.
So, whatever intrigue you believe to be, it's entirely of your own making.

This is pure shadowboxing autism.
Chill, nigga.

Are you talking about the Rune of Death?
Isn't that related to the Pale Queen or whatever?

I just woke up and I think Marika is even cooler than yesterday. Oh boy oh boy I sure lub her, me and my homiebros hang around her statues all the time listening to her echoes

I seem to have another unfinished FTH character, which I decided is going to be a quick spellblade with the shortest possible casting time. Lightning spear spam with one hand and a small blade in the other, not sure what yet but the only requirement is that it has to look cool. Shotel? The fucking warhawk sword? Wakizashi? I could also get a spear for dragon hunter activities and such. Pike, treespear, clayman harpoon? Feel free to suggest spear-type weapons with cool movesets.

I've gotten to Altus Plateau with this one, seems like a good jump-in point when starting to lock in a build or a fuck around with an idea.

why are you even here? your such a fuckin joyless cunt and all you do shit up the thread, we get it, the Synthetic Man discord is down the block.
Nigga, I was in this thread way before you even made an account.
I get that you're a heavily autistic jap simp and any pushback on your insectoid masters will make you bleed profusely from the ass.
Buy a tampon, bitch, and deal with it.

Hey... I've seen this story before...

Elden Ring will never beat the DS3.5 title. In other words, additions that were going to be in DSIII but were removed for some reason like crouching. Retards hyped themselves up for another DS2 and got more ds3 lol.

With the whole color theory I'm convinced it's just the next Dark Souls world that Gael's daughter painted.

Fromsoftware have been very weak at their storytelling for a long time. Long before I was a fan. I think their last really good script was Sekiro, only the Japanese version though which is probably not as known so still shit with trannylators. Their new games are gonna fuckin suck and probably repeat so many themes and tropes they've established its gonna be like cancer.

Armored Core VI was a complete step down from the III era and IV, and was just continuing things they already did with the series but now the genocide world ending calamity is magic red fire stardust. How thrilling. Definitely a spectacle but not well written.
