The Godzilla Thread - Plus other giant monsters, no matter how popular or obscure

Well Monarch season 2 just ended and what a wet fart of a season that was. Titan X was actually decent and had a little more character development then all of the main cast save for Kurt/Wyatt Russell. Cate needs to die and I was kind of hoping she'd get smashed during the Kong and Titan X fight. Speaking of it was actually a pretty decent fight, goes on for a few minutes and has an ok ending. I was gonna give up on the third season buuuuuuuuttttt.....

I'll make sure to check out the Fights on Youtube, but I have little to no interest in watching the actual series.

Late to the party but shit like this is why when I have kids, very little to no internet access. I talk shit about "kids these days" having zero backbone and shit like this is why parents have to be watchful over their own. He's 17 so he probably still lives with his parents, I hope it's a wake up call for them because there's no way a non-neglectful parent would have ever let this get this bad. This is probably years of bullshit adding up, then again he always sensitive from what I could tell.
Okay, I think it's time to put a stop to these Godzilla crossovers.

I do not see the issue of a fun little crossover like this.

I completely forgot this show existed, I figured it would suck and low and behold.

No one wants to watch a series about cool giant monsters focus on human drama. It’s fucking boring.
I agree. I watched the first episode, or maybe first 2. It was neat, but like, man I wanna see monsters. Minus One did human drama right. It was engaging.

Let's see what I can recall about the humans from the recent Godzilla movies.

2014: Bryan Cranston was in Japan, and the other main character looked like a buff Elijah Woods. Oh, and Serizawa's iconic "Let them fight"
Shin: uh, honestly I can't recall much.
Skull Island: I haven't watched it, yet.
KotM: The most standout human moment moment was Serizawa's sacrifice. Amazing scene. Oh and the Tywin Lannister guy was there throughout the movie.
GvK: The Bernie guy was funny at times.
GxK: The Australian guy was cool.
Minus One: Literally enjoyed all of the human scenes as well as the Goji scenes.

I don't mind human drama in the Movies, and depending on how it's handled it can be good like in Godzilla Minus One. The problem is that for an episodic series like this it's going to be nearly an hour of human stuff per episode that is dragged out across the season with a tiny amount of Monster action shoved into each episode. And it's especially bad when I don't particularly care for the human characters. Also since it's a side series you know it's not going to actually do anything to push the story forward like the Movies will.
If the human focused stuff was REALLY good in the series then it wouldn't be a problem, and if the human portion has good world building and whatnot, but from what I saw in the first season I just didn't really care, and especially when the degeneracy is pointlessly shoved in.

It really shouldn't be that hard to do a Monarch series, that's what the Godzilla cartoon was, basically: science guys investigate weird shit, weird shit is connected to Kaiju, Godzilla shows up to beat a kaiju's ass. Make like ten or twelve episodes of this, print money.
The 90s Godzilla cartoon essentially just took the Ultraman formula and swapped out Ultraman with Godzilla, but that formula works for a reason. It guarantees we get a cool new monster every episode and a climatic battle between it and our main hero. For this shitty Monarch show, it's just tease after tease until the final episode, which may have been fine if we had compelling human characters to follow, but instead we're stuck with these obnoxious faggots.

Godzilla beating the shit out of Zilla while Sum 41 plays in the background is the greatest scene in the franchise and you can’t convince me otherwise.

Acceptable human drama in a giant monster(s) story:

Humans either despairing or turning into Captain Ahab after giant monster(s) wreck their cities killing thousands (or millions whatever)

Humans wrestling with the question: is our new superweapon that can maybe defeat the giant monster(s), in the end, an even bigger threat?

Unacceptable human drama in a giant monster(s) story:

Whatever this Monarch series is doing

These still are, or should be, B movies ffs

tbh I found Final Wars kinda lacking, like, if it's going to Kitamura, REALLY Kitamura the fuck out, like Godzilla flies with his breath like Smog Monster, but now he spins while doing it and has some sharp building in his hands like a sword

That retarded little anime spin he does at the end before firing off his final breath attack will live rent free in my head till the day I die.
