The new car market in particular is so ridiculously fucked right now, and it's why I mentioned earlier that I refuse to buy any post-COVID vehicle, because that's when all this shit really kicked off.
These auto companies went all-in on the expectation that the government was going to brute-force everyone into buying an electric vehicle (and forcing the working class to take public transportation everywhere), while at the same time doing the Vegas thing of turning their brands into "luxury" concepts that are essentially overpriced junk. They're iCars that are basically smartphones with a vehicle wrapped around them, the fit and finish is absolute garbage, and in some cases they're using plastic parts in place of sturdier metal ones.
You've got dozens of warning signals, sensors, and shit like adaptive cruise control that have been installed because retards can't keep their face out of their fucking phones while they're driving, while replacing tactile controls with tablets that force you to flip through a bunch of fucking menus just to control the temperature. Not to mention shit like subscriptions for options like heated seats. When you have a software crash? Good fucking luck operating the vehicle.
The irony is that they're trying to shove all this tech into cars to appeal to (and fleece) Zoomers that grew up using screens and making microtransactions all the time. The problem is that shit's so expensive that their target demo can't even buy those cars, while pissing off older people who can actually buy them but prefer basic tech like backup cameras and maps, and knobs and switches for the rest.
