GPUs & CPUs & Enthusiast hardware: Questions, Discussion and fanboy slap-fights - Nvidia & AMD & Intel - Separe but Equal. Intel rides in the back of the bus.

My computer has developed an annoying stutter of sorts. It'll just randomly hitch (and if sound is playing, play a buzzing sound). Started a few days ago.

The annoying part. Using performance monitoring tools reveals nothing. No spike in CPU or GPU usage. No drive access. At first I thought it was an issue with having YouTube and a game open at the same time, as that seems to make it worse, but I've seen no common element. Sometimes it will go hours without a problem, sometimes it will do it several times in ten minutes.

Best guess. It's related to the warm weather we've had. But everything is cruising at normal operating temps and the fans aren't picking up (unless it's under load, which is normal). My second guess, related to some software that updates like Steam or Discord.
Since it’s on your sound it’s EMI. The question is where it’s coming from. Most likely internal source is a hard disk. You can disable all the hard disks and see if it goes away.

One weird external source I’ve seen is from a cell phone close by. I’m not sure if it’s the Wi-Fi or the cellular signal. It gets picked up by long cables.

The true battle at altitude isn't heating, it's solar radiation. Too bad my second homelab is an AMD on NVIDIA setup on a riser cable too lol... I logged over 10k corrected and uncorrected pcie and ram errors in less a few seconds before it oops due to double bit flips during a flare once.
Here's a good day, 5 hour uptime with corrected errors unmasked. Lord forbid I debug anything else.

Jeeze. Is that after adding lead shielding?

Completely unrelated. Do you guys have any opinions on these mini handheld vaccuum cleaners for computer use?
I've been using a standard bucket vac with basic attachments to clean my puters for years and I've never felt the need to buy a specialty tool for the job. If you don't already have a bucket vac, maybe it would be worthwhile? I generally avoid niche appliances because I don't use them often enough to be worth the storage space.

Y'all niggas need air compressors. 100 PSI will blow dust out of spots in a PC case you didn't even know existed.

The computer stuttering issue I posted about a few days ago might have been solved, and I might be right about it being software or web browser related. Haven't used my computer enough to confirm, but-

The TL:DR is that YouTube had a bug that would use over 7gb of ram. As I said, no cpu, gpu, or drive spike, which you might expect once the ram has filled up and it starts swapping stuff in and out.

Am I losing my mind? Outta the blue checked best buy to see if any 5080 FE were in stock since it got brought up in a convo with my friend and the price of the GPU was 2,335.25, instead of 999.99. Did they more than double the price?

Did they more than double the price?
Yes, most things have

Edit:

I was wrong. The PC I won is a 285k with a 5090 in it. I won't see it for a while but I'm rapidly trying to figure out what I want to install first. I'm going to name it either Götterdämmerung or Imperium.

That's a third party listing taking advantage of the fact that BB is out of stock.
