Look at how hard he emphasized that this was a humanitarian/goodwill operation and how good negotiations were going with Iran in last night's Tweet.
It almost reads as being written extremely sarcastically, in hindsight.

Its likely they are firing a bunch of shit at our boats we are just intercepting it and keeping it quiet for now. This makes it look like they are just attacking random arabs. We didn't even report sinking their boats until much later after it happened. Imagine your great attack ends up a simple footnote in a press conference.
