Virginia Dems pushing through the 10-1 Map might be the biggest own goal the Dems made since it has completely fired up the Red States to respond in kind. Even RINO's can't hide behind "principles" to do nothing.
Pushing gerrymandering bullshit was always a losing proposition for Democrats because there are more GOP governors than Democrat.

It is a losing proposition because dems have already squeezed all they can out of their maps, meanwhile the Republicans haven't even really started playing the game and the SC just gave them the greenlight to go all out.

Same thing just happened to me in the Indian menace thread.

Ron! does a thing
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said Monday that he signed into law a new set of congressional lines that could net his party up to four House seats in November.

The governor’s signature caps off a fast-tracked redistricting special session, which marked Republicans’ last chance to draw new maps in the mid-decade national redistricting battle. The new House map aims to boost Florida’s GOP congressional delegation from 20 to 24 seats, while reducing Democrats’ eight seats to four.

BREAKING: Gov. Ron DeSantis just SIGNED Florida's new 2026 Congressional map, which is expected to add +4 new Republican seats this November

Looks like SCOTUS ruled in favor of the pro-aborts, abortion drugs will be able to be mailed by teledocs throughout the system.
Not surprising since they're complete pussies and half the court is corrupted, but I look forward to reading them twist themselves in knots trying to explain how enabling whores remorse to change whether it's a clump of cells or a baby is clearly a constitutional issue while allowing millions of brown rape monkeys permanent abuse of our citizenship if they shit out a kid is not within their power to curb.

Fuck this retarded gay earth man
Thankfully it's just a pause on an original ruling. This is a pretty normal thing to do in this case afaict, but maybe one of the more experienced law heads could chime in too.

Gerrymandering is a legal practice, it's just seen as a douchey thing to do. It's harder to accomplish in a purple state, but Florida is no longer a battleground state. The GOP could accomplish this with Georgia and Ohio as well. Democrats always gerrymander their own states, so - as you said - there's nowhere else for them to go with the practice.

I don't even know why you guys are talking about Kamala. She has zero shot of winning anything. She's cooked. She's done. She cost everyone money. She was a plug candidate thrown under the bus last minute.
But she brat, and that's what really matters.

From what I read it was a temporary stay to preserve the status quo and allow for more briefing.

Not exactly there Johnny, gerrymandering has been around for a long long time. The only thing that has changed lately is the GOP actually seems to want to fight back a little bit.

I was thinking in the contemporary context when I wrote the post, but it's worth pointing out that the practice is old as shit.

Now the Virginal Redistrict is still held up in the VA SC and has not been ratified so going to be interesting if it ends up being called illegal AND the Red States Re-district
I thought it was declared illegal and they had to postpone some early elections to redraw it? Or was that a different State?

In Virgina the issue is that they went about the whole referendum and re-drawing thing in a way which was patently illegal, so the entire vote is invalid.

Other states are postponing elections to re-draw districts, as those districts were drawn under the now un-Constitutional view that the VRA requires racist districting, which threatens to wipe out numerous nigger-only Democratic districts.

They just stayed the ruling to give things a chance to play out while the case is heard. They didn’t make a ruling. That will take months.

A State Judge declared it Illegal about 7 different ways and the VA SC did not let them ratify the vote. So right now in VA it is in a holding pattern with the current map being the law of the land. We need to see what 7 VA SC Judges decided. And even then there are a couple more ways to sure over this (I believe there is a court case ongoing about the language of the vote).
