You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

Low-effort art is either for the purpose of money laundering or gay retards trying to get attention and those grind my gears because it absolutely works.
Comforting, but no. Not all of those pointed at as "low-effort" are actually low-effort*. But that aside, most real artists (even if they might be people some think are low-effort*/ do whatever someone doesn't approve of) are just being artists. Some create good work; some don't, just like in every field. And of course there are grifters; there are grifters in absolutely every field, as well. And same for attention-getting.

*there are absolutely lame-ass people who create garbage (or create nothing but still claim to be x kind of person) but pretend they aren't. Again, same in most every field. There are lazy nurses, accountants, roofers, lawyers, programmers, ditch-diggers, etc. And all of them can typically coast for awhile or make a living.

And of course there is the "food deserts" that result from theft, which really screw over all the poor people who cannot afford a car.

I live in a food desert. There are some bodegas and mom & pop stores that have a few good deals. But no big supermarket or pharmacy because of theft. When the big supermarket here folded nothing opened up in its place. The building just sits there rotting. It's already been set on fire once and people have been living inside it. Every time the back door and the roof door get bolted shut it just gets torn off a few days later. They put one of those cheap rent a fences around the lot. But they don't keep anyone out because you can just push it aside at the ends. I keep waiting for that big ass plot to get torn down so they will put up the housing and shopping we've been promised for years.

Anyway, back when Walgreens was still open they had to have a constable in there towards the end. I went in there a lot because it was our only retail store with food and other necessities. Most of the shoplifters I saw were junkies. But some were just bold. I saw a white guy who didn't look like he was on anything stroll in with a big cloth cooler bag, fill it with energy drinks and walk out. The employees were all young women and didn't want to confront him so they just didn't do anything. I don't blame them. Before they got the constable they had some pretty inept guards who just played on their phones all day instead of watching the store.

If your guards aren't doing their job then what do you expect is gonna happen?

The conversation surrounding "Separate art from artist", 90% of the time those video essays asking the question are answering it on the basis of "Do I like the artist or nah". JK Rowling? Can't consume her cause I don't like her. Melanie Martinez? Can consume her cause I like her.

Imo it depends on if you're giving money to the guy and if the art is about the artist's actions. Like I can listen to Sexxxting by BOTDF, but not You Done Goofed.

But then you get ostracized and "DNI"d for this opinion that's asking a question that's dumb and unimportant either way

The conversation surrounding "Separate art from artist", 90% of the time...
99% of the people who ask 'can you separate art from the artist' are only asking because it turns out their favorite artist fucks little boys in the ass or sings Nigga Heil Hitler - and rather than saying: 'well I guess I like stuff made by pedophiles and Reich-admirers, maybe I am also a flawed person.' they instead cope and seethe and try to tear reality asunder, as if the mind that channels the art they like can possibly have zero influence or filtering effect on the media produced.

The other 1% are these essayists who are just saying 'I won't give time/money/attention to a political enemy. Even though I like their stuff.' Which is just politics.

Yes, it can. Jeepers Creepers is as bog-standard and inoffensive as horror movies get, it was made by a child molester. There's literally nothing you can conclude is wrong with you if you like that movie that wouldn't then translate to being wrong with everyone else who likes horror movies. There's nothing in Graduation that would make me think I'm a Nazi for listening to it, there's nothing in Harry Potter that'd make me think I'm gender critical for reading it, and there's nothing in Jeepers Creepers, the horror movie where the main cast are all adults and one of the only early 2000s horror movies that is completely non-horny, that would make me think I want to molest children. Cause, shocker, no one sits down at their writing desk and goes "Alright, I committed a horrendous crime, how about I admit to it and allude to it constantly!" unless they're an actual retard dumb enough to leave the corpse of their victim in their trunk.

There's a reason why people are shocked at certain news, because nothing in their work alluded to that being the case.

Chronically online idiots who assume that every video they see is AI.
Same thing with music, books and movies. It's the cheapest card they pull out and play when they are expecting a natural medium to impress them. If they don't like a piece of art? "Oh that's AI!" If they don't like a script you actually wrote for a TV episode? "You had ChatGPT help you, therefore AI!"

It's like they want to get into a circular argument over how actually retarded they are, about discerning the differences between what is done with AI and what isn't. These are the same people, who probably couldn't discern the difference between real and fantasy anyways or what fiction is from non-fiction. Therefore, assume they're dumb as fuck, even if you're correct, and move on.

About the whole separating the artist from the art thing, I wish some people would stop over-complicating it. You either fucking like it because you don't give a shit about the person who was ousted for committing bad acts or you fucking don't and just write off the thing entirely and move the fuck on without shitting on everyone else who happens to like it because they're intellectually superior than you to do the separation work you couldn't.

Otherwise, I don't like being told to box myself in because "Oh, you like this?! But haven't you heard that the creator is a scumbag?!" Yeah you fuckstick, I'm aware. For example, I don't give a flying fuck about J.K Rowling's opinions and existence, I'll still like Harry Potter because I believe the IP is bigger than her and it'll continue going on when her ass falls over dead. I'm just not going to stop liking something because your half-baked, politically-wired dumbass told me to just for brownie points.

As for the thread tax that I wanted to come into with, are people who have such extreme autism to think that the characters would share their ideals. There's an image I saw on here of the people who created Sonic the Hedgehog and they made him simply because they just wanted to. They didn't jack up Sonic with everything they feel he should represent. He was just a mascot!

But obviously over the years since his creation, you've got all of these short-bus riders like pumping Sonic like as if he's the poster child of everything they believe in. They'll do this to any other character from other IPs. You know what? Godzilla would still stomp your fucking existence in and not give a shit about whether you think he'd support israel or not.

Ice cream truck jingles. Playing high pitched versions of nursery rhymes to signify your presence is grating to the ears. Even as a child, I found it annoying.

Have you ever asked someone a question only for them to reply with something along the lines of "oh you already know that"? No, I don't. That's the whole reason I asked. Why would I ask where the XYZ shop is if I already knew where that shop is?

Every time I see some lazy fucktard littering right near a trash can. I used to see that crap all the time near bus stops that had trash cans right there.
