i mean yeah but thats if they had known the series would be more than 12 episodes long. gotta remember this was pitched as a miniseries initially before getting another season
I really find it hard to believe they weren't 90% sure they'd get a second season. The first season goes hard in tumblr baiting with the relationship drama to make more women watch the show.

well to quote the wikipedia page (because the website link it references just wont load for some reason)
The Legend of Korra was initially conceived as a twelve-episode miniseries. Nickelodeon declined the creators' pitch for an Avatar: The Last Airbender follow-up animated film based on what then became the three-part comics The Promise, The Search and The Rift, choosing instead to expand Korra to 26 episodes.

The rumor mill says they got told half way into season 1 that they were getting at least 2, probably 3, more seasons. Not enough time to change season 1 sure, but more than enough to hammer out a 3 season story arc. Which they of course didn't actually fucking do.

You could make the argument that the show is basically two two-season arcs, but even then Last Airbender is simply superior in the pacing department. I have no idea how Seven Havens is going to be paced out given there's only a two season order as far as we know.

Exactly this! They had enough time to set up everything!

I have! It will SUCK! Copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy.

In more words? CAAAAAN DO! They changed the setting from an original, Oriental-inspired setting with elemental magic and spiritualism to a mid, generic JRPG with regions you can unlock, they have a cripple protagonist that is hated by the universe and, as one final fuck you to the previous protagonist that the writers failed, the world got wrecked because she tried her best and it wasn't enough. All the citizens that have Korra to thank for not dying, now act like she is the cause of the Armageddon.

Korra might had been a lackluster protagonist but we all know who to blame for that. Bryke felt it easier to join in the throwing of tomatoes at their own creation rather than give her a good send-off. That should tell you all you need to know about the duo that helms this show.

I have no faith in this. They don't care about their babies. ATLA had heart, care, effort and LOVE! TLOK, while it wasn't anywhere near as special, still had those things albeit at a lesser extend. So yeah, it will suck.

I agree that throwing poorly written characters under the bus is a bitch move made by hacks, but I really doubt things are as simple as they seem right now. Korra will end up being vindicated by the end of the show.

Give me my clocks, but I just learned they made ANOTHER movie on this failed franchise. I hadn't even heard it had gotten leaked until recently.

I am shocked that there have been so many attempts to grow ATLA beyond just a one and done series. I have had to hear about this series for over 20 years, and most of it has been complaining about how much everything other than the main show sucks. Just let it die.

Also stop doing prequel movies. They always suck and have no stakes.

If Voltron taught me anything, it is that even when the pieces are about to fall in place perfectly, someone will fuck things up and throw everything out of whack.

Could they vindicate her name? Possible but they spend 3 seasons showing her be an idiot and she only really grew at the fourth. The comics didn't help. She starts a fight with her parents because she is a hothead. Instead of Aang, who had a complete character arc where he grew and learned, Korra should have gotten a movie that vindicated her and made us love her. Show her in her mid to late 20s and have her be competent. Alas, they chose to make a story about a character that didn't even need it.

She was made to be a destroyer as opposed to a tragic hero that sacrificed her life. Will that change? They failed her with the show, they failed her with the comics and they didn't give her a much needed movie. I shall keep my expectations short.

Except they already knew it was renewed when they did that.
