And no need to show what the loss was? I doubt that Piggy can show any financial loss as a result of the swattings. His AirBnB continued to rent without interruption. The MPD did not damage his property, although one of the cops did threaten to kick down a door, but I doubt that counts. He certainly did not lose wages. He had no medical expenses despite his nonsense about CPTSD or w/e. Maybe Nikki needed extra therapy, and medications.

The pests telling Pat that they were all showing up for his trial may have played into this as well. The city wasn't in a bad position, so it's likely that Niki took some lowball settlement offer that they had thrown out that saves them having to take the case to trial.

Also, wouldn't the settlement amount be subject to FOIA or some other kind of records request? Governments being able to reach secret settlement amounts that don't need to be disclosed to public is open to all kind of corruption.

All that could happen is separation. Though the wife could gain full custody of the children. He'd be unlikely spend any prison time, even if he did it would be a few days at most. It's also considered banishment, not imprisonment according to their laws. The laws are also harder on the woman than they are on the men. For a women it falls under Article 333 of the Revised Penal code and is called adultery and can get a few years in prison. Concubinage, what this man did, falls under Article 334 of the Revised Penal Code. Only the offended spouse can file.

In other words, if the wife doesn't care than the government doesn't.

Are all the documents going to remain sealed since it didn’t go to trial ?

And the best case scenario is the city conceding on some kind of error and covering Patty’s legal costs and nothing more?
