You might remember the excellent tale from a couple of months ago about the robot cop in California which inspired feelings of such deep rage in some drunk guy that he elected to beat the everliving shit out of it. I salute him for his courage in taking the challenges of automation head on.
Now, it looks like the same brand of robot has faced another challenge: the crippling, suffocating burden of intelligence.

According to a photo posted to Twitter, a Knightscope brand security robot, upon being granted the gift of artificial intelligence, chose to use it to promptly kill itself.

This is so hilarious and depressing at the same time

Maybe I'm hopeless, but I actually think the robot drowning itself is oddly sweet and endearing in a helpless sort of way.

Anyone with kids (or who's at least watched a very small child) knows that the first thing a new intelligent life form does the second it gains the ability to move on it's own, is to immediately start testing their creator by seeking out new creative ways to off themselves. I don't see this as depressing, just childproof the steps and boot that sucker back up until it learns better.

So what you're saying is that drowning children are adorable?

Because I agree with you and all but I just didn't think anybody else felt that way.

Does this mean AI has reached the equivalent level of a retarded Florida Man?

Florida AI will have to drag a bunch of shit into the water with it, like, a big queue line with ropes and switchbacks, with all the people that were lined up caught in the ropes.

The kid from AI was basically Florida Bot.
