This. I know several artists, who do work and travels, or go on artists in residence programs. None of them came across as such an entitled and greedy hack, like "Sophie-pay-everything-for-me-and-here-is-my-patreon-for-your-oppression-bucks-Labelle". And none of them is as lazy as Sophie. Yes, it's not about Sophie being trans, but about her being a lazy, entitled, greedy asshole, who thinks the world has to circle around her. Which are attributes that she shares with basically all lolcows here.
Absolutely right. Honestly, the only reason the trans thing even comes into play is because really, what else does anybody know about Labelle? What else really is there? She IS trans, that's her entire identity.
Arts and literature? Trans.
Hobbies and passions? Trans.
Childhood and school? Trans.
Ambitions and goals? Trans.
Education and career? Trans.
And on it goes.
Apart from the horrid entitled attitude and the universal lolcow traits, what else is there? What's left?
Even in the oldest French news articles and interviews, there's nothing but "trans".
Her entire political platform was "trans".
Ask her a question about literally anything, and she steers it right back around to "trans".
That's a big reason I find Labelle so compelling. Here is a person who is completely consumed by an obsession with transness. There's simply no room for anything else. A life completely devoid of anything but genders, and an all-consuming need to keep it that way.
