Man, if I were DSP and I saw some unshaven autistic with wild ass hair yelling at me I'd first make sure I didn't click on my own video by accident, then promptly ignore the video too.

The same excuse as usual: pin the blame on the detractors, dood. Thanks to the Super Best Friends Phil will complain that bad-mouthing him and spreading lies has caused him Patreon Money and he will claim that he is totally innocent. At no moment in his next Emergency video or WiP he will admit that he made some wrong decisions this month. Chasing off those weeb fans he has by telling them animu games won't be in his next Patreon Goal wasn't his best idea.

Don't forget the shots at his own fans. He will "put his foot down" and not do the goal because if he does it once nobody will fund his goals ever again. Probably tell them they have been taking his Paytreein for granted and they have become "spoiled." For someone who says his audience is "mature adult humans" Dsp sure loves to talk down to them like children. Wouldn't be shocked if he tells them "he's not mad, he is just disappointed."

His excuse for not playing weeb games is moot, for the simple fact that people narrating over writter dialog is annoying. I recently got hooked up in a game called King's Bounty: Armored Princess, and I wen to Youtube to find some people playing on my free time so I could compare with the way I was playing. I found two guys who did LP's of it: one of them, I dropped immediately after he started narrating the dialog box. Fortunately the second LP had nothing of sorts.

Anything to make himself feel like a big shot. He desires the feeling of power, but he'll lose his mind and start doing anything to cater to his patrons when the money starts to dry up. It's essentially the same thing as when he challenged that person in the FGC to a fight in person, but then chickened the fuck out and tried to get them to "troll" the onlookers by doing wrestling crotch chops. He'll talk big, but once his back is to the wall he will willingly sacrifice his dignity as he's done so many times before.
And this is why nearly nobody respects him, outside of preteens and autistic "adults."

James Rolfe never went through that phase, as far as I remember, he was just busy with other stuff and/or didn't feel like making any AVGN episodes at the time.
As much shit as Doug Walker/TGWTG/CA is nowadays, atleast he (sort of) tried to make something new, which ended up being even worse than the content he started with, and then gracefully went back to making Nostalgia Critic and has been doing alright ever since.
Meanwhile Joe is the personification of greedy youtuber who wants to have his cake and eat it too by not wanting to put any actual effort on his content and would rather do the same many other youtubers have, aka doing reaction, vlogs, streaming, movie reviews that try to ape RedLetterMedia and other stupid shit instead of doing the content that made him 'famous' to begin with.
In a sense DSP belongs to the "Angry Joe"/Greedy Youtuber side, while Rolfe makes his stuff mainly for fun and kinda uses it as an experimentation and Walker accepted the fact his call to fame was Nostalgia Critic so he started doing it again. Meanwhile Angry Joe (And to an extent, Phil) want to do the laziest and most minimal effort possible but rack up the same amounts of money as other people who actually make consciouss effort for their content. And the "Greedy Youtuber" has been the 'evolution' of gaming youtubers for a while, really shows you who are the ones wh oactually do it for fun and those who just want to do it for profit. Phil's commentary has always been kinda dogshit, but he was more 'lively' and real back then.

Nah, not random. Phil has learned that making these "heartfelt" twitlongers is one way of getting his fans to dump more pitybux on him. It's the end of the month, his patreon is about to miss goal unless BSV bails him out, so it's time to bring out the completely insincere garbage about being appreciative for his fans "support" (read: money).

I love it when Phil goes on a rant, because the longer he goes on for, the less sense he starts making. Like the Toby Turner rant; It was full of hypocrisy, projection, double speak and contradictions, all in the span of 20 minutes.
Phil has changed. A lot. He's done - and is doing - almost every single thing he's criticized other people for. Asking for tips, plugging his Patreon and Teespring, reading out shoutouts for 10 cents, wearing headphones while squinting at his TV, being forced to do Patrons' Choice playthroughs, etc.
But, of all the reasons why this is stupid, this is probably the biggest: he's correct in that he hasn't really changed the khantent he's putting out, which is why he isn't viable on YouTube anymore. His channel has been declining since 2010, and all of what he's saying is completely irrelevant, because YouTube isn't where he's making his money anymore. He was "fortunate" enough to pick a no-skill-required type of content that can also work on Twitch. If he was stuck on YouTube, you can bet your ass he'd be doing anything and everything on that list to "stay afloat".
However, this also means that he can't just play games on his own schedule and upload the videos. He's locked into this streaming schedule. He also complains on a near-daily basis that he can't play the games he actually wants to. He can't play Nintendo games, he can't play indie games, he can't play retro games. He has to play what's new and popular, or the whole house of cards comes crashing down.
He has changed. He was dragged into it, kicking and screaming, and it's made his own situation so much worse. So... congratulations, I guess.

James actually admitted he got burnt out back in 2010 (I think it was March or April) shortly after he made the movie's script. He did try to do more skits in 2011 and 2012, and a good chunk of his fanbase complained about it as a result, although not all of them did. By 2013 and onwards, he slowly stopped doing skits. He occassionally does them but nowhere near as much as before.
What I'm trying to get at here is that James attempted to spice up his videos via skits, and when people criticized the skits, he listened to the criticism and improved his content.
This right here, while it's been stated 100000 times already in the past, is DSP's biggest problem: he absolutely cannot listen to criticism and is extremely unwilling to improve his content. (just take a note at how long it took until he switched to direct capture: 2008-early 2013. It literally took him 5 fucking years to switch to using a capture card, and that's not even getting into the ridiculous excuses he put out)
He only attempts to improve when he's left with no other choice but to do so.

Oh I get it, he already used up his all hands on deck "emergency" this month so now he has to pretend he likes his fans to get some money.
He tried react videos and failed, and what is his prestream if not a daily drama vlog? He tried edited reviews which I have no doubt were scripted because he did not drone on and on about bullshit. Just because he failed at these things doesn't mean he can pretend he never tried to jump on the the same bandwagon he is condemning. Oh and why not start off with shots at AVGN, Nostalgia Critic, and Angry Joe ONE DAY after he said he doesn't trash talk other Youtubers.
How can a person be so toxic that I see this "heartfelt thank you" as a giant middle finger to his fans not giving him enough money.
