Gamergate Hanger-Ons - 9_Volt88, 2dAmMuslim and friends

Initially, I was considering doing a topic solely on 9_Volt88. As I researched him more, I realized he's not interesting enough on his own to keep a thread alive. I also realized that some other members of the Mombot doxing squad and their associates had gone undoxed and that I had some of their doxes as well. I figured I might as well make a group thread. If you're unfamiliar with that "doxing" incident, here's a link explaining it: https://archive.is/rQpjY. We already have threads on Matt Myers and Izzy Galvez. So here's my first post in the series, about 9_volt88.

Meet Greg Weber

Greg is a 29 year old web developer from Long Island. He is best known for his Twitter account, 9_volt88. For those wondering whether he was an alt of a games journalist or holds any importance in video games, he does not. He's just a Twitter poster who still cares about GamerGate in 2017. He's your typical anti-GamerGater, promotes social justice stuff and hates "gamers". He's similar to Hbomberguy in posting stuff just for the sake of being contrarian.

Mombot's setup against this dude was masterclass.

Basically, she spread a fake DM. It was obviously fake, since it didn't match 9Volt's posting style or MO at all.

It was up less than six hours before 9Volt's buddies took it completely seriously and labelled him a harasser, unsubbing and blocking him en masse. He lost over 100 followers and is still salty.

He's also really proud of declaring we need to kill everyone who enjoys video games. Like a lot. He alters between pretending he's not serious and pretending he is.

So around two years ago he took this course at a coding bootcamp to get an entry level web dev job at his current gig. I mean really entry level. Just take a look at jnf.org, it looks and loads like shit, so what the fuck has he been doing for two years. There are people a decade younger than him who are more able.

I somehow doubt an SJW is doing that, though. Or is that just his birth year? If so, unfortunate choice on his part.

I don't know if this is relevant to this thread. But back in the day CultofVivian was the biggest lightning rod of drama on Twitter. Ran some secret chat group that only invited trusted GG members, tried tone policing other GG Twitter users and other bizarre stuff. Considering the amount of drama she caused, about as much as Devi Ever att. And she always seemed to show in photos at RL meetups.

After GG she had gained a decent fanbase, dropped the Vivian thing and teamed up with someone else to make a YT channel, following loosely in the vein of shoe0nhead and armouredskeptic.

Anyone remember them?

Yeah, it's just his birth year. I don't think he realised the HH connotations until his detractors told him, long after he'd established it as his "brand".

Yeah. I remember.

Cult of Vivian was one of several individuals actively trying to foster rifts in GG as a whole, trying to encourage people to drop the hashtag (because that surely would help Gamergate's image by this point), and play nice with the others in the hopes of winning them over. On one hand, she accomplished some good by opposing shitheads like Ethan Ralph (when he went full sperg) and took potshots at GGRevolt (the insane moron wing of Gamergate).

On the other hand, people were leery of anyone preaching a disarmament at the time, especially in the wake of how many false-flags GG had seen. Suffice to say she got involved in a massive drama bomb between the GGRevolt Spergs and her own personal e-celeb crew and the response by most GG supporters was to wash their hands of both, since it was abundantly clear to basically everyone that Ralph was gunning for Cult of Vivian just as readily as Vivian was fucking egging him on.

Then it came out that she and her buddies tone-policing - insisting on proper pronouns for Sarah fucking Nyberg - had led to the likes of Mark Kern leaving GG, and at this point even KIA disavowed her.

She's not really relevant to the thread, but she is a really good example of why GG was right to remain comparatively leaderless.

All I know about her is that she and her friend Micromonics (a streamer/Twitter guy who roleplays as an inch-tall man and tries really hard to be quirky) stream games together and she talks about science sometimes. I think they both attached themselves to some controversy but I don't know what exactly.
