How will Bob react to seeing the Mario film?

New Gameovethinker. About the Vietnam of our generation, but this time listing the his favorite games on the Sega Genesis.

10: Aladdin
9: Mickey's World of Illusion
8: Ecco the Dolphin
7: Castlevania: Bloodlines
6: Rocket Knight Adventures
5: Eternal Champions
4: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
3: Kid Chameleon
2: TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist
1: Streets of Rage 3

I just want to leave everyone with a bit of MovieBob's opinions on the Genesis as a whole. There's this strange feeling like I've seen this rant of his somewhere else about a different console. Also a comment about mascot platformers being shit, but better than the current crop of "glowering, angry white dudes". Couple of not so subtle digs at Sega for trying to compete against Nintendo by creating their own Mario.

Sega's main lob-line on the Sega Genesis was that it was the edgy alternative to all things Nintendo. While that was enormously successful as an ad campaign, it also saddled the console with an unfair secondary reputation as the poster-child for gaming's most low-brow sensibilities. A machine designed to feed angry little boys a stead diet of simple-minded violence and schlocky wish fulfillment. All of which just made said angry little boys love it more, but didn't do justice to the other thoughtful, whimiscal, higher-minded games that were widely available for the system, but not nearly as aggressive advertised.

Genesis was for dudebros, case closed

It's cool how Bob is so encouraging of New Media, networking with other creators, and not being an internet hermit.

The context is the director of Kong: Skull Island being salty af about CinemaSins.

When everything you see makes you think of Trump it's time to get medicated.

Shockingly, his list sucks. How do you leave out the Phantasy Star games (okay, you can skip III, but II or IV should be mentioned if only because they both feature the permanent death of a party member / love interest several years before it happened in Final Fantasy VII)? How do you not at least mention Herzog Zwei, which was a precursor to RTS games?

There are a lot of good games on the list -- that Castlevania game is awesome -- but they ultimately are just another reflection of Bob's shallow, limited tastes.

Out of curiosity, has he ever explained why he hates RPGs?

How can he pick Streets of Rage 3 over 2? It's like he picked these games at random.

So, Bob's got his panties in a knot over Trump again.

You seriously expect Bob "Don't like Nintendo? Get out friendo" Chipman to have detailed opinions towards Genesis games beyond the most obvious ones? I'm honestly surprised he doesn't think holding the controller will make him turn evil or something.
How hard is it to spell "exclusives" correctly in the goddamn title screen?
Also, why is "Happy 28th Anniversary" on top in comic sans?

I'm ... really struggling to ding Bob on this one. The director is overreacting, no question ... but Cinema Sins is garbage. Funnier garbage than Bob produces, but that is a low, low bar.

Ok, so I'm not a Cinema Sins fan either but let's explain Bob here a moment.

So what drove me away from reading Bob back in the day is that he has a literal belief that the artist is always - absolutely - in every way right.

No really, the post in question was him complaining about a movie's BUDGET. Because even the reality of limited resources restricting creators was wrong to him.

This is what you see with the ME3 controversy. Bob got so salty because it was a bunch of consumers pushing back against the artists of a game. And look at this case, cinema sins takes shots at artists, so Bob immediately sides with any artist pushing back against them. It's another feature of his worldview.

That RLM took the piss out of George Lucas probably makes them a worse Hitler than Trump in movieBob's eyes.

Wow this director is insecure as fuck. I'm not a fan of CinemaSins but it is pretty obvious the 'sins' are rarely serious critiques.

Glass houses Bob. CinemaSins is garbage, no doubt about that. But it manages to have (slightly) better production values than anything you've ever made. Twitter posts included.

Also, the director clearly has thin skin if he's getting worked up over what's intended to be a parody video.

I dislike cinema sins cause I had a room mate who would actually criticize movies the exact same way. It was so god damn obnoxious and it's all I could think about when I first heard a cinema sins video. Of course I just never watched a cinema sins video again.
I don't know why a "critic" like bob or this director bother even talking about it. If someone is dumb enough to have their opinion on a movie changed by cinema sins, what hope was there for them anyway?

Well Bob is pretty thin-skinned, too, of course ... I mean, look how much it's all stretched out!

(Have I made that joke before? Eh, probably.)

Bob thinks your Average Joe is mentally handicapped. For example, his belief that Trump was elected for being "That there man from the TV" or seemed to imply a Zuckerberg 2020 run would be dead on arrival because normies will confuse him for the actor who played him in a movie that also happened to play Lex Luthor (So Zuck=Luthor). He gets his sense of reality from pop culture trash so he assumes that's the default state.

It is the end of having both feet, though.

Paul Ryan just got called a coward by a guy who'll dismiss your argument if you make a typo.

And he's still obsessed with the Hillz.
