Speaking from my own experience with Narcissists, I think it's because the Ariana Grande trial was such a crushing humiliation for him, he's trying to push it aside for now--both in hs own mind, and in the minds of othet people who know about it.

Trust me, he'll be back at a later time, re-writing his Ariana Grande story just as he's doing with Taylor Swift right now. But at the moment, it's too raw a wound, and still too fresh in the memories of too many people. He needs to get distance from it before he can reassert control of the story (to the limited extent his incompetence allows), and write a version that better favors him. So he's switched focus back to an old target, while acting as if his recent defeat didn't happen.

And, frankly, there isn't much (if any) difference between Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, in his mind. They're both public figures who have unwittingly and unwillingly been used as props in a larger story that Russell tells sbout himself--of ungrateful women who refuse his gifts, and therefore must be humiliated. He can switch one out for the other without skipping a beat (as we've seen).

This is why most content producers outright refuse unsolicited submissions, only taking submissions from professionals represented by agents. They could be some delusional Russhole who would sue them later.

I'm a writer. I have an agent and lawyers who work for me to ensure these things don't happen. But I also get personal requests all the time (I'm open to emails on goodreads and facebook). I read and accept nothing. I always thank people for their time and then state that I'm not allowed to read unsolicited work. If people get testy, I tell them it's in my contract.
Simply put, I have to protect myself. It's not personal.

And I'll also add, Russ trying to compare himself to other writers kinda makes me throw up a little in my mouth.

I mean, it's really big of him to let them know so they aren't totally blindsided by the huge backlash this book is going to create, and it's their own fault for ignoring him. He's been as fair with this as he could possibly be, and if they choose not to reach out with that date finally, it's really kind of out of his hands. When he takes all her money and ties her to the adult entertainment industry or prostitution (because all her money will be gone and all her fans have abandoned her so she can't make new money without turning to that), they'll wish they had just done this one simple thing of letting him take her out. If she didn't end up falling in love with him, that would have been fine, so long as she gave him all the attention and time he deserved, which as we know, is quite a lot. Edit: You know what though, the more that I think about the #FakeNews #LyingPress, it's going to take a lot to overcome the power of the Taylor Swift Industrial Complex. Russ has nobody left. His birth family abandoned him like the dumpster baby he was, his adoptive family has to be close to disowning him, and what few people who felt bad enough to be friendly with him have seemingly cut ties.
